He really makes the character 3 dimensional while at the same time highlighting his single minded pursuit of punishing criminals. It can really be a treat to read.

However, I'm not really into what's happening in the MAX series. He makes it too graphic and vulgar for my taste. The one storyline that he's done so far that's really shined for me was the Russian one with the little girl.

Don't ask why, but I just thought is what really something when he told the little girl "Now, close your eyes. Don't open them." as he was carrying her through the hallway with all the carnage that him and the other soldier did to the staff at the Nuclear Missile silo.

And especially at the end when they got the girl to the US and the scientist on the submarine complained "he wouldn't let us even TOUCH her!"

And Frank said to Fury: " I promised I wouldn't let anyone stick her with anymore needles."

It really showed that despite all he's gone through in his war, he's still a loving father.
Couldn't have said it better myself. :thumb:

I don't do chicken rentals no more.

Not since poor Chickadee was taken advantage of.

As far as the laser hair removal...

...it's kinda defunct:

Actually, that's what the appointment was for.

You shoulda seen her face when she got out of the bathroom ready for treatment and there I was holding that cat: "Here ya go, Maam! All done.... Um.. Wait a sec... Why aren't you wearing any.."

"..oh, dear!"

Well, I have every issue of "Sleeper," but that was through DC/WILDStorm. And it's over.

Hey, is WILDStorm still printing?

I wish there was some way to bring Holden back for another round of Sleeper - Brubaker writes great spy-thriller stuff, and Sean Phillips has a very interesting style that worked well with the way they put this book out.

Sorry, I'll get down off the ol' soap-box now.

:D

Jim Lee or Travest Charest is a MUST as artist on this book, IMO.

ahh the good old days...

Bi-Monthly... eh, not too bad. That is at least what Marvel does with their regular titles it seems these days.

I read a bit of Marvel. Amazing, Cap, Supreme Power (or whatever it's called now), Punisher, Ultimate Spidy, Ulitmate FF, and various Minis.

The only DC I pick up is Batman or Detective when it looks good.

400yrs wrote:I read both, but it's getting harder and harder to do so. With the multiple titles for a single character, creators being spread thin over several books, and the crap load of variants that these companies produce for each book, it's starting to feel like the mid 90s all over again.

Each Co. still has a few quality books, but I'm trimming down my buying for both companies while marginally increasing my Image buying.
:thumb: (accept the Image part)

DC mostly going back over 20+ years supplanted by some mainstream Marvels (ASM, Uncanny X-Men, Daredevil) - no MAX or Ultimate line as their is only so much Spidey I can take in one month. There are some surprises on the Independent side such as Shaolin Cowboy so I keep my eye on that rack for good writing/art
