Who reads these ???
I am wondering who reads the following comics:
Marvel
DC
or
Both
No, there is no gay option like 'ice cream'

Re: Who reads these ???
You forgot None as an option. I grew up with them, they hold a special place for me. I still don't mind reading a DC or Marvel comic if I get my hands on one, but I'm not a reader of either.

I am not polling for 'none'... if you do not read either, then you don't vote.
I guess part of this is to find out who is reading what because I see (and participate in) a lot of Marvel/DC bashing. I bash once in a while but I STILL pick up these universes... WHY ? Because I want to have FUN reading comics. So, for all the bashing I/we do... who still reads them ?

I barely read Marvel, I get the Punisher (MAX) and any Marvel Zombie related books and that's it. As for DC, I shouldn't really count them either, because I only collect Vertigo titles.Knightt wrote:I am not polling for 'none'... if you do not read either, then you don't vote.

In the past when DC had there "infinite" storylines, I really got excited, I wasnt familiar with there b/c/d/f characters, but they still seemed interesting, everyone seemed to have there part, then after the crisis was over, I just didnt care who all these people were......in Marvel even when theres a bad story, ok its a bad story, and all there b/c/d characters still seem interesting to me, for instance Luke cage and Iron Fist, never really read there solo books, but there interaction with characters I do care about makes me want to know more, it doesnt make it right its just my preference, I barely know any history of DC characters, I do read batman, but thats about it, otherwise Marvel

While I don't care for the overall universe of either company very much, there are titles from both that I do read because I'm a fan of those characters. What I mean by that is I'm not a DC or Marvel guy. I'm a Spider-Man and The Flash guy. The big event crossovers that take up the whole universe never really interest me. I avoided the whole Infinite Crisis thing. I'm reading the core Civil War series only because it's tied in so close to Amazing Spider-Man, but I'm not getting any of the other tie-ins or secondary series like Frontline. And I really can't wait for it to all be over.
Oh, and I don't mean to be rude but I have to put this English degree to use every now and then...
THERE: in or at that place (opposed to HERE) - She is there now.
THEIR: a form of the possessive case of THEY - their home, their comic books, etc. They went there to get their books.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I am reading far too many of each at present - there will be a cull post Civil War and after the various Brave New World mini series. However the two event series for both are quite interesting for me - 52 especially, sustaining my interest so much that I save it to last (always an 'honour' reserved for the book I am looking forward to most). Civil War grabbed me straight away (even if they did effctively kill off the New Warriors) but I (VERY) strongly suspect that the Spider-man ID thing will be restored to pre-CW status. I am missing Young Avengers.
In considering what I like about the big two, my thoughts about what I like so much about VALIANT are clear - the stories (especially the earlier stuff) are completely different and far more believable (once you accept the VALIANT conventions of Harbingers/Immortals/Spider-aliens/Darque energy etc).

I'm reading the Civil War Storyline right now. I really want to see what happens with Spider-man and Iron Man. Ole Iron's gotten pretty diabolical and secretive!
He really reminds me of Lex Luthor off of the Smallville Series.
Oh, and the Punisher, of course.
Sorry, no DC. Not because they don't do good books. I've heard nothing but good things lately. I've just never got 'hooked' on them is all.

I read both, but it's getting harder and harder to do so. With the multiple titles for a single character, creators being spread thin over several books, and the crap load of variants that these companies produce for each book, it's starting to feel like the mid 90s all over again.
Each Co. still has a few quality books, but I'm trimming down my buying for both companies while marginally increasing my Image buying.

I voted both. I'm a longtime DC reader that only ever mingled in the DCU (Mostly Hulk, Thor, Deadpool and the occasional X-book). Although I find myself getting less and less DC these days.
Yeah, putting Ennis on the Punisher has been the best thing to happen to the character.dantheman wrote:I read both... but Marvel has been making it harder for me to stay with them.... except for the Punisher
He really makes the character 3 dimensional while at the same time highlighting his single minded pursuit of punishing criminals. It can really be a treat to read.
However, I'm not really into what's happening in the MAX series. He makes it too graphic and vulgar for my taste. The one storyline that he's done so far that's really shined for me was the Russian one with the little girl.
Don't ask why, but I just thought is what really something when he told the little girl "Now, close your eyes. Don't open them." as he was carrying her through the hallway with all the carnage that him and the other soldier did to the staff at the Nuclear Missile silo.
And especially at the end when they got the girl to the US and the scientist on the submarine complained "he wouldn't let us even TOUCH her!"
And Frank said to Fury: " I promised I wouldn't let anyone stick her with anymore needles."
It really showed that despite all he's gone through in his war, he's still a loving father.
