Best place to buy bags and boards
I'm in the market for about 600 bags and boards. Is there any place online where I can get 'em for cheap even after postage?

I'm irritated with bags and boards. I can't find them locally for less than $90-$95/1000 (Silver) which is ABSURD, because I KNOW they're cheaper than that.
*SQUEE* won't give me their sources.
You can get them online, but with shipping, it ends up being the same price, so it's a wash.
If anyone know how I can beat that price by more than 10-15%, let me know.

This seller, "zillaf4", on ebay has good deals on all sizes bags & boards as a BIN. He is the one who is selling multiple copies of pre-unity books.

Hotflios is the best place I've found
http://www.hotflips.com/ is the best place I have found to buy in bulk. I usually order about 2000 bags/boards + boxes at a time, but they have all kind of price discount levels that you can even mix and match bag/board sizes and types to meet. For a price quote, my last order was a little over $100 for 2000 silver bags, 2000 silver boards, 10 short comic boxes, and 2 short magazine boxes, including shipping!!
What I really like is their topnotch customer service. The second order that I made with them, all 2000 bags arrived, but the box with the boards looked like it had fell apart and there was only 1200 boards in it.
I callled them, and the guy apologized and sent me 800 boards within 3 days.
No blame game, no accusations. He told me he that faulty shipping wasn't my fault, and that he wanted all customers to be happy.
I wish their were a lot more retailers with that attitude!!!!

Thanks for the tip... I think that i might have to try this guy out after I move...(Which is in a week!!!) I think that I am going to move all of my comics to short boxes and I need to bag and board a ton of them...this guy will probably be getting some of my money...comxfan wrote:http://www.hotflips.com/ is the best place I have found to buy in bulk. quality of bags
Can't remember the thickness. I am fairly anal about my bags and boards, and I have been using 'em for about 7 years now. Looked back through my older ones, and bags still look like I just put 'em in there.
I also especially like the 2 inch flap on the bags.
I'm also going to short boxes, and don't have any complaints with the quality of them either.
Going out of town for the weekend now, so see ya'll on Sunday night!

Re: Best place to buy bags and boards
Being a former comic shop owner, let me arm you with a little info.Shakespeare wrote:I'm in the market for about 600 bags and boards. Is there any place online where I can get 'em for cheap even after postage?
I can say that I paid maybe $18 AT MOST per 1000 bags and even less for boards and they were Ultra-Pro brand. And we were a SMALL shop by comparison to many who probably got better discounts. Boxes can run pretty high depending on what quantity they were sold in (most distributors sell them in bundles of 10 with a min buy of 5-10 bundles).
Most long boxes and short boxes cost the exact same for a retailer to buy, so if they sell one for more than the other, they're only gaining.
So here's what I'd recommend. Make someone an offer. Seriously. If you find a good local shop or online retailer, no matter WHAT their price is online or in their shop, approach them discreetly and say you're interested in stocking up, you'll use them exclusively for your supplies if they cut you a nice deal, and propose a nice, non-offensive price.
I had a kid that would come in once a month and bought 500 bags/boards and about 3 short boxes and I gave him a 20% discount off my regular prices. I knew he didn't buy all his books from me... he bought a lot of back-issues on eBay and maybe about 40 new titles a month from me, but I appreciated the business.
Altho I must say, comxfan's post about getting 2k silver bags/boards and 10 shorties for about $100 including shipping... that's friggin awesome.

And when you factor in the shipping, it becomes a wash, sadly...Vault-Keeper wrote:This seller, "zillaf4", on ebay has good deals on all sizes bags & boards as a BIN. He is the one who is selling multiple copies of pre-unity books.

AND, when you deal with Zillaf, you've got a company that doesn't grade anywhere NEAR as tight as they used to, a company that ships big long boxes of books with NO BAGS AND BOARDS....NONE....and a company that, when you buy a long box of comics from them, the box doesn't 'show up' and they didn't put delivery confirmation on it. I mean, get real...a LONG BOX of comics is a LITTLE hard for the USPS to 'lose'...and you can't spend the extra 55 cents on a $35 order?
....and all of this after I've spent about $7,000 with them in the last 4 years.
Sigh.

Shipping
Christopher,
If I remember correctly, expect around $15-20 shipping.
Think you will be pleased with the quality!
Got to do another order myself soon, out of short boxes already and my son is harping at me that he needs another one.
Got him started collecting (he's 10 now). Just filled is first short box.
Sure does make a daddy proud, haha!

Re: Shipping
I just placed an order with them...just 200 bags and boards and like 6 short boxes...I just wanted to test them out...Is anyone else a little worried about them not quoting the shipping? I would hate to buy <$30 in stuff and get charged $10 in shipping though it is UPS and the tiems are heavy...i dont know...maybe I should have ordered more stuff..I am on a very limited budge right now since most of my money is going into the house, but I do need some new boxes since I am going to reorganize the collection on some new shelves that I got...x-o drop a line when you find out what shipping is and how everything looks when you get your order...I am a little nervous about these guys...R_Daneel had bad things to say about them a while back...but comxfan seems to like them...I knwo they sure are cheap....comxfan wrote:Christopher,

Re: Shipping
I am still waiting for the shipping amount. I guess the 48hr turn around is not correct.DawgPhan wrote:I just placed an order with them...just 200 bags and boards and like 6 short boxes...I just wanted to test them out...Is anyone else a little worried about them not quoting the shipping? Not to worry anyone, but my experience was less than steller. I ordered about two weeks ago. I paid by PayPal check, so it took about 4 days to clear. When it did, I went online to check my order with them, but my order history said I'd never ordered with them. So I e-mailed. Two days later I got an e-mail saying to give them a call, which I did. They hadn't received my order, and when I told them what I paid for, they told me they were out of flip-and-sticks for 30 days. I said I'd take regular bags. A day later he e-mailed me the shipping price, $33 for shipping from NJ to CO. So I had to PayPal a second time to pay for the shipping.
The B+B came yesterday, 52 pounds for 1,000 of each.
I wasn't in a rush to get them, so it's not a huge deal. I ended up paying about 8 cents per bag and board combination, as opposed to 11 cents locally. Worth it? Eh...
Not being told shipping in advance is always a pain, and I told them so. Having to PayPal them twice, that was the kicker (in the ballers)

Well it looks like I will not be ordering from them. They wanted $88.00 to ship. Seeing how they are in NJ and I am in AZ I am sure that was part of why the shipping was so high. However 2000 bags and 2000 boards with 5 short boxes would still work out to be less than 10 cents per bag & board. Which is still a decent deal. I might still order from them but want to see if there are any west coast companies first.
