PSI Lords Gold many years ago.
Mike Leeke was doing a signing at a local comic store, and he brought one along to be givena away as a raffle prize at the store. Well, I won the door prize and became a very happy owner of PSI Lords #1 Gold signed by Mike Leeke.

I picked up my 1st gold last year at a comic sale, which was an A&A for 25 cents. I was extremely happy. But today, at my LCS, I noticed he had restocked his $1.00 boxes, so for the heck of it I decided to go thru it, to see if I needed anything. And man did I. I proceeded to pull out a RAI #4, RAI #9 GOLD x3, X-O #15 PINK, Unity #1 GOLD, and finally Unity #1 PLATINUM. I couldn't believe it. I did trade 1 of the RAI 9's to my brother, for a RAI 0, you can't have too many of those.

I won a lot on ebay with all the deathmates, deathmate golds, and A&A gold... I think it was around 12 with shipping...

unity #0 red cgc 9.8 which i picked up on ebay for around $150 (?) about a year and a half ago, now i'm hearing some are selling for $300 (?)

then i got a unity 1 platinum, unity 1 gold, hard corps 1 gold and magnus 21 gold all cgc around 8.0 to 9 point something for like 10 or 20 bucks on ebay

growing up in australia i started picking up valiants just before unity (x-o #5 or something) but gooooooooooood luck finding a "gold" variant in any of the comic shops down under

and if you came across comic shops in the states that really marked up their prices on these try visiting aus.

the first gambit is probab;y still going for US$50, un-slabbed

Wow, that's a pretty good deal. I think you're right, they usually go for up to 300.

Really huh? I really thought at the time it was about the market price. I think I saw one go a month or so before that for around that price so that was my bid.

Anyways, it was one of those books that I thought as a kid I would never own...like magnus 12, rai 3 (actually rai 1 to bloody 4!) so when I saw it come around I had to get it

i also saw an archer and armstrong gold #0 9.8 go for around the same price. didn't get it, wish i did though...

sent to me directly from Valiant (Voyager whatever) in spring 1994 for a bulletin board from my classroom(sent them a polaroid of it)...think it was the Valiant Timeline.
