Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

All I heard about it was either "late" or "previous commitments."cinlach@aol.com wrote:i can't believe no one showed up for the panel.
that sucks for BTE...did folks at least give a decent reason for not showing up?

Frustrating....but ok......

It was fun meeting everyone that would allow themselves to be reognized!

And with the panelists....what's a guy gonna do? Chain the creators together and drag them in?

I believe I read somewhere that it was Charles Yoakum. As for what was discussed...??? The guys who attended will have to fill us all in there.SnotDrip wrote:...and what was discussed?Brother J wrote:Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but which one of the panelists actually showed up?

i just wanted to thank all the fans who stopped by the panel. i apologize for myself and sean who were unable to make it. he had a very important late-lunch meeting that day, and it ran over. i was stuck watching the our booth (theblvd) as all the other members were out on similar mtgs or panels, and as things turned out, all ran late. i showed up just minutes after the panel had ended and chatted with a few outside the room.
saturday is the busiest day of the show, with over 100,000 people making their way through the convention floor. most of the artists have booths that they needed to watch over. even though our blvd booth had two "assistants", i could not leave them unsupervised (and there were a lot of convention goers stealing books lying on the table).
sean and myself were mostly at our booth on the exhibitor floor the rest of the weekend and chatted with all the fans who bothered to stop by.
what i would recommend for next year (if you're all still interested in holding an event), is to have the panel either on sunday or friday. collect all the cell phone numbers of the artists you have planning to attend, and either call them or send guys out 30 minutes before to do a sweep. due to the massive number of people at the show and all the commotion, it is very easy to forget the time and have things slip by.
lastly, i have always been a supporter of doing something outside the actual show hours, such as a group dinner or drinks social like we did last year.

Having been an exhibitor at the SDCC back in 1999, I can attest to the craziness this convention generates. There were many times I wanted to make it to any number of panels, etc. (or even walk the floor), but there always seemed to be something going on at our own booth that required my presence for one reason or another.
I would be interested to hear from some of the board members who attended what their overall impressions of the convention were and anything they would care to mention about any interesting discussions at Brain's panel, etc.
Thanks,
-TWT

My impression was that it was croooooooowded and some of those fanboys need to wash under their manboobs alittle more. There was a definate aroma at times. The panel was cool. There were quite a few non board members there. After the panel quite afew were inquiring about the the site. So we might being seeing some new members soon. Met BTE and a few others (although not everyone) and I met up with knight on sunday (oh, and xomatic also, though he doesn't know it). Ran sean chen down at his booth and gave him a little lighthearted grief about the panel (forgot to ask about his pengies and the solar statue, oops), then he, bernard chang, j.p. Leon and all the rest of the guys at their booth were kind enought to sign their sketchbook for me. Even got my san diego exclusive zoom suit signed. Had a good time and now I need a nap!!!

I had a chat with Dan, X-O matic, bte and a couple of non board members both inside and outside the room after the panel. Didn't spot you.
Oh and you were three feet from me and didn't say one word either: AWKWARD
