i'm actually taking about 5 issues of "deadly hands of kung-fu" to get keith giffen, george perez and joe staton to sign them.

why you ask?

because those issues have jack of hearts appearances in them.

see, i told you i was a geek.

everyone else i know sees jim lee, or david finch and freaks out...i go all fanboy for guys like nick cardy, carmine infantino, george tuska and marv wolfman.

i'll skip the 3 hour line for mark millar so i can sit and eat lunch with dave cockrum and gene colan...thanks though.

I know what you're talking about.

I sat at a Mid-Ohio Con for hours in the mid-90's to meet Brian Bendis long before anyone knew who he was.

I still think his pre-Marvel work beats anything since...read A.K.A. Goldfish.

On a sidenote...I bought lunch for Jill Thompson and Bryan Talbot at the same con. Who the hell are they?

nothing wrong with skipping the latest hot artist to get to the tried and true creators whose work you really enjoy. I would do the same. :thumb:

..and the Jack of Hearts was a pretty cool character, as well. I'm probably one of the few who remember buying the Jack of Hearts mini series new and enjoying it a lot.

jack rules...here's a guy who's gone toe to toe with iron man, the hulk, and silver surfer.

he deserved better then getting b!tch slapped by brian michael bendis.

i cannot wait to see the look on keith giffen's face when i plop a stack of valiants and deadly hands #22 on his table to get signed.

he's gonna think i'm a nutjob.

it's gonna be awesome!

OK, with the Deadly Hands of Kung Fu thing I was thinking "That's not geeky."

Then you got to the Jack of Hearts thing.

:hm:

It's all good. We're all geeks about something.

I'm trying to come up with the geekiest comic book thing I collect. I guess the best I can do is a full run of the original Micronauts, but those really were great comics (maybe that's just my inner geek speaking out).

My wife sure as hell doesn't get the penguin statues, though.

I guess my run of the first New Mutants series would be the geekiest thing I collected. I think others might say the Rai penguin, but they are fools.

:D

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.
