Anyone here fans of this dead universe. I personally bought Perg back in the day because of the glow in the dark cover on one of the issues. The interior art though in my opinion wasn't the greatest. The story in Perg from what I recall wasn't to bad . Any other info on this dead universe would be greatly appreciated. You know maybe an issues list and maybe some of the artists or writers worked elsewhere at one time or another. Just throwing it out there as a possible interesting topic for the dead universe forum. :thumb: :thumb:

I have a few of the books, and I thought the artwork was horrible. Its been so long since I've read them, so I can't really comment on the stories.
Maybe this website might help you. :thumb:

It a good site. And you can see some of the lightting comics are hard to get I dont even have a quater of the books. I try and pick them up ever now and again if I can get a great price on them. I would say Rocket2600 has the most clompleat collection.I think the cover art and a lot of the book art is as good as Defiant art was in most of there books.

I never got into them... horrid art. I know, I should be focused on the STORY but if I want a good story and not worry about the art... I would read a book. I can appreciate underground comics and such but some of these books... didnt anyone actually LOOK at what they were producing back then ?

I don't know, it looks like some of the covers have some pretty good T & A on them, that would be enough for me to collect them!

I picked up all the issues of Bloodfire and Perg. They were decent books. Bloodfire was a hot book at one time. I think it had a lot to do with the main character being the first superhero with either AIDS or HIV. I remember that the first Lady Death (by Pullido's Chaos comics) and Bloodfire came out around the same time, and the Lady Death was the book that sat on the shelves for the first few weeks. The Bloodfire shot up in price and all the collectors jumped on it. A few weeks later many collectors were wishing they had bought that first issue of Lady Death became a hot collectable for a while.

:thumb: Now you see why some are hard to get. The covers on most of them was great , That is the Hellina covers. And I thought Purg was a good read I dident realy care much for Bloodfire.

You're welcome. I'm glad I could be of some use.
After checking out that website, I might have to dig through my boxes and see which books I have. I didn't know they put out that many books either.

Seeing this thread reminded me that I've got a number of these books. I picked them during the time they were being published. Have several variants and signed/#'d editions I believe. As a matter of fact, the only variants that I've still got. Sold most of mine, including the Valiants, back when they were selling at ridiculous prices.

Overall quality wasn't very good. Stories were ok but the art was average at best and the writing definitely needed some refinement. A BWS or a JS could have done wonders with these characters. Of course, that could be said for anybody's characters :D .

Ok i sold some of the premium bagged books for £10-15 each and Drift still keeps bringing it up and laughing and accusing me of being twisted, but one mans gold and all that.

I have since picked up a decent hit of lightning books.
