More Mile High Nonsense...

Post by ZephyrWasHOT!! »

I really wish I understood why I fall for Chuckie's tricks....he's got this Newdeal nonsense going on, and boldly proclaims how "prices are lower than at any point in the last five years."....

Except they're not.

Harbinger #1 - $60 NM

That's 2-4 TIMES the going eBay rate.

3 years ago, Harb #1 was listed for $12.50. I know, because I bought some.

And "NM" to milehigh is more of a casual suggestion, as opposed to an actual grade.

Even with 40% off, you're still better off winning every single auction for them, as you'll pay $36 with Mile High.

And he goes on and on and on about how it's such an incredible sale, and he's nearly GIVING away....

Ah well.

I don't deal with Mile High anymore. I jumped on a big sale about a year ago (on ebay) and HALF of the books they sent were the wrong books.

Then they made me go through the trouble of packaging them up and sending them back before they would send the correct ones. Like I was going to do a switch on some $1 books.

To their credit they did make things right and they did cover the return shipping. Still, I will not buy from them again.

Yeah, they did the exact same thing....sent me a Vol 1 Shadowman #19, when I ordered a Vol 2...and MADE ME SEND A QUARTER BOOK BACK TO THEM.

Lord.

And did they cover the time you wasted repacking the wrong books and going to the PO to mail them?

Probably not.

Never had a package 100% correct sent from them. There is always a mistake. Don't use em anymore. Lone Star is much better :thumb:

Nope. They actually did it a second time when they sent the books they were supposed to send the first time. One of the books was very much not NM.

I was actually very firm that time. I told them that I simply was not going to waste my time sending a $1 book back to them and that they needed to simply refund the cash. They did.

I haven't ordered from MH in a while, but I remember that everything I ordered was sent correctly. However, I agree on MH's grading "standards": some time ago I ordered the four issues of "Give me liberty" in NM, and when I got them, #4 was a FI at best. :(

Do you have a website for Lone Star? I was about to order from Mile High again (I've never had any problems with them) but it seems their prices are getting a bit high. They don't have nearly the amount of $1 comics they used to and everything else is WAAAAAY over priced.

Here is the website for Lone Star Comics. They are MUCH better than Mile High in regards to pricing. however, their selection is somewhat limited...

I LOVE this shop... I have ordered over 250 comics from this place and they have only screwed up 2 issues (and it is the difference between vol 1 and vol 2, so I could 'see' the mistake... way different than MHC blantant I don't give a $hit mistakes).

Great prices, great packaging and great service. They may not always have the selection like MHC does but what the hey... it beats a guarenteed mistake by MHC.

MHC is either understaffed or they are all smokin' weed with Chuck... or maybe both. No disrespect to Chuck as the man is ill (with West Nile Virus) but the facts be the facts about the way the company handles it's customers and business (mail order... I cannot speak for the actual shops).

Has anyone dealt with NewKadia.com?

http://www.newkadia.com/NK.php?Home

They don't have quite the selection MyComicsShop.com has and it seems their prices are a little higher on most VALIANT's, but they do offer free shipping on all their orders plus other incentives like free comics.

Free shipping can sure make a difference sometimes.

I haven't bought anything from them yet, though.

Has anyone else dealt with them?

I've only dealt with Mile High twice, but both times my books arrived in timely fashion with no mistakes.

I've had problems with them on several occasions and emailing them concerning an error is just about useless. I've always had to talk to someone on the phone to get the problem straightened out.

I would like to add that Daydream just hooked me up with some HTF DC issues and variants at a VERY good price. If you are looking for something specific, make sure you give him a try. I was Very pleased that I did. Now how about those Green Lantern 8 & 9 variants :P

Yeah, apparently so did every other shop in America. Thanks for the ones you did get me though, they were tough to find here or online for reasonable $$. :thumb:
