All VIP stuff aside, I think Dino & Co.'s hearts were in the right place when they bought the properties...
HOWEVER, I am just about certain that they aren't the right people to own Valiant. I don't think that they have the visionary prespective to get it right, and may bail to Massarsky's cronies when the pressure mounts.
These characters should be in the hands of caring industry professionals, which Dino & Co. aren't. I KNOW there is a group of individuals biting at the bit to take over Valiant the right way. Whether they will ever get the chance is undecided and questionable.
Maybe I should shut-up, but I've had enough.
If things aren't done right, I will certainly boycott any and all forthcoming new product.
We, as TRUE fans of Valiant, need to make a strong stand. Dino needs to COME OUT from behind his veil of smoke, mirrors, and midget jokes, and make an official statement, regardless of the whole VIP fiasco.
VIP doesn't have a leg to stand on, and if it takes Dino threatening a cease and desist lawsuit of some kind to put the scare of Jesus in them, than it has to be done NOW. He should NOT wait for a Judge to issue an order if he can scare them off their game with top notch legal representation.
IT CAN BE DONE.
If Valiant gets screwed up this time, it's a done deal. That swooshing sound you'll hear will be all hopes of a New Vision being sucked down the drain.---Steve

I don't know what Dino & Co. have planned, so I'm talking out of complete ignorance here, but I fear you are right, VK. I'm getting the same feeling I got when Amiga (the BEST computer ever!) was handled the way it was after Commodore went bankrupt.
I haven't lost hope yet. I still have faith that there is a plan out there. But I do fear. Unless I've missed something, the only word that has leaked out from anybody that any progress may be being made was Christopher Priest saying he had talked to VIP about Q&W and had faith in them.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

If Jim Shooter could revive Magnus with his Gold Key and Whitman continuity intact, then the same is possible for the VALIANT Universe that we know from before Unity.
I refuse to believe that this is an impossible task.

Without knowing more, I don't know if we can say Dino et al are up to the task. It may be possible they weren't planning on being the visionary forces behind a new valiant - merely the owners. Maybe they were/are planning on bringing other people in, hiring people, who knows what.
With so much information still in the dark, I think it is all but impossible to say who would, or wouldn't, be a good "leader". Until we have some idea what the plans are, we can't say that someone is wrong or right, IMO.
Heck, it could be possible the despite the *SQUEE*-backwards way that VIP has attempted to control the Valiant properties, they might have a good plan. I wouldn't bet on it based on their methodology so far, but I do agree that the current owners aren't being much more forthcoming. Secrecy was one of the complaints about VIP, but no one is really telling us anything.
Of course, we don't own Valiant, we aren't involved in any legal fight, we don't have any huge financial stake, so we aren't really required to be in the loop. It would just be nice, that's all, to have some information - on the situtuation, on the future plans, on the goals, on anything.

Okay so I take it you now think VIP will be longer than a foot note in the history of the launch?Vault-Keeper wrote:All VIP stuff aside, I think Dino & Co.'s hearts were in the right place when they bought the properties...

Just imagine VIP could be printing this thread out right now...
"We found the secret to siezing Valiant in this thread!"
"What is it?"
"The board wants the leader of the new Valiant to be...a bowl of ice cream!"

It's not about being stubborn.
Fact is that Shooter managed to do that, which means it can be done. Anyone that chooses not to do it does it because they can't do what Shooter did, not because it can't be done.
