Road to Civil War and Annihilation
So Marvel's two big events are either hitting the stands or gettign ready to. I picked up Annihiliation Prologue and I think the story is good just I do not care for the art. I can't wait for the Silver Surfer, SUperSkrull, Nova and Ronan titles to hit the stands. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Road to Civil War. I picke up Avengers and AMS and I must say I like what I am seeing which is a pleasant surprise. I will say this Iron Man fans may not like what they see from Iron Man. Looks like the premise leading up to the Superheroes Registration Act has been building up over the years and awaits a nail in the coffin event to set it off into play.
Possible Spoilers:
So far it looks like Iron Man, Black Bolt and Reed Richards are the big pushers of the Superhero Registration Act and are encountering opposition from Namor. Oh and words about sending the HUlk into space and how it was done tells me that when Ole big green comes back somebody is going to get a major A**kicking.
No mention how the X-men or mutant groups will be drawn into it but I imagine after the Horseman and Mutant Genesis concludes we'll see the mutant involvement.
I think these two events will definitely be more satisfying than HOuse of M.

Annihilation looks cool and the prologue issue was hook, line and sinker.
I'm reading the Civil War issues that directly have Iron Man involved and the Spider-Man issues so far are awesome.
The Illuminati one shot was really good other than that absolutely FOOLISH scene were Namor casually takes off Iron Man's helmet underwater..... that was just dumb on so many facets.

The latest Fantasic Four and Spiderman issues were excellent. The new costume issue was the first JMS spiderman issue I didn't like (just a dull, dry showing of what the costume can do) but the current issue is 100% on the money. Funny, exciting stuff. And the cover alone of FF is priceless (Doom picking up Thor's hammer!!!)
If this is how the x-over will be dealt with in these titles I definately don't mind. There were refences to the Avengers special but the stories stood by themselves with no need to buy the special to understand them. I hope that continues. I don't want to be forced into buying the Civil War mini and the tie-ins.

One thing I noticed so far with the Civil War issues at least right now is that Marvel seems to be making a stronger push with the Avengers and Fantastic Four line up. They really are pouring it in on them. I wonder if Civil War is primarily intended to bring back more interest into those titles and If Annihilation is Marvel's way of bringing back their cosmic characters which IMHO, Marvel needs a steady line up of cosmic characters.

I am not sure what you mean by a stronger push with the FF ?Kino wrote:One thing I noticed so far with the Civil War issues at least right now is that Marvel seems to be making a stronger push with the Avengers and Fantastic Four line up. I think that it makes sense for the 2 sides of the war to be represented by Cap and Iron Man (if that is what they are setting up) I know he is the leader of the FF but I have never looked at Reed as a leader.
I have really liked the recent Iron Man and Spidey issues. I am actually having fun reading and waiting for the next issues . . . imagine that.

I think what I am trying to say is that so far Civil War is centered around the FF and Avengers so to me it appears Marvel is making a stronger push with those titles.
After reading Ronan, Annihilation is super so far. I have all of them and have them on pull list along with any variants. I didn't realize how much I miss of Marvel's cosmic universe till Annihilation came out.

Don't forget Spiderman. He's got a ton of tie-in issues and changed costumes just for this x-over. He's Tony Stark's right hand man (we'll see how long that lasts).Kino wrote:I think what I am trying to say is that so far Civil War is centered around the FF and Avengers so to me it appears Marvel is making a stronger push with those titles.

Got my Civil War 1! I got to say when i heard of Marvel doing this I was skeptical to say the least but if this issue is any indication how well things are going to be, then this may be the best series in a loooong time.
Although I am on Capt. America's side I do believe this event will not end with a victory but setting the tone for the next couple of years. Case in point, the required registration and work for the government smacks slavery and kinda reminds me of the pre-inferno genosha arcs in the X-men issues. I feel this will rejunate the mutant freedom cause and bring back the rights for mutants.
I could be wrong but it just strikes me that way.

What a GREAT start to the story.....Art is very nice too.
I think that the last few issues of FF penciled by Mike McKone have been AMAZING

I was really happy with it also. I plan on dipping into the piggy bank to get all the crossovers because I have really liked all the tie-ins so far.betterthanezra wrote:Just finished reading Civil War #1![]()

I read the Road to Civil War issues in FF, as I'm a Dr. Doom fan. I must admit, I found myself enjoying them, along with the possible return of someone else.
As for Annihilation, I'm a hardcore cosmic fan. But the glaring gaps in continuity have thrown me off the event. I'm not picking up any of the minis after the trainwreck that was Silver Surfer #2. I may come back on board for the main mini.

I can understand that. I gave up on continuity a long time ago. For some reason Marvel and DC just can not maintain continuity.Shadowmatt wrote:I read the Road to Civil War issues in FF, as I'm a Dr. Doom fan. The only New Civil War issues this week were Wolverine and She Hulk
I think that She Hulk #8 could be a sleeper issue for Civil War.
