Re-Reading: Magnus Robot Fighter #11
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

A bit more "relaxed" issue, which builds on the intelligence of the previous ones and don't need to add more. A good classic adventure where Leeja is the main hero. Even some slap-stick, love the robots talking about their clothing priority order.

An entire issue of the hero's girlfriend saving the day. What an awesome idea (Lois Lane only wishes she kicked this much a$$
). Leeja's rescue of Magnus is a joy to read. No marching in, guns blazing or slug fests to be found. Just a matching of wits against Xyrkol. Leeja's competent but far from perfect. Having her first face-to-face with the villian be while Xyrkol's trying to shower was priceless (as was the robot's reactions).
And I love that opening page. One of the best splash pages they did.
I love this issue. A 10.
BTW, in continuity, Magnus v. Predator is next (according to the dates the stories happen on).
Continuity Note: Xyrkol never appears agian, even after the revelation about him the Asylum saga. Maybe its just as well considered what will happen to Mekman and Noel after Shooter leaves...

Seaborn's synopsis:
To demonstrate his powers, Xyrkol boils away the largest lake in North Am. President Clane surrenders North Am while Synchron fights on against Xyrkol. Leeja manages to access the subspace channel that leads to Xyrkol’s fortress. She irreparably damages the station and frees Magnus who battles Xyrkol. Magnus returns the station to normal space and there the Gophs deal with Xyrkol. Tekla takes custody of Xyrkol and Leeja decides to return to North Am. Magnus de-probes Slagger and remains in the Goph Levs as one of them.

Ive just been reading the series lately to get better acquainted with the Valiant Storylines again. (Im up to 14 now). I actually liked Xyrkol. I actually liked him as a probed violence hating good guy. When he was turned evil, he seemed like a perfect genius villain. Almost Doctor Doomish or something like that. Madly Brilliant and Powerful. Kind of wish he made a comeback eventually. Perhaps hidden away and rethinking his plan of attack. Its probably just me...but I could have seen him as a major reappearing villain.Todd Luck wrote:Continuity Note: Xyrkol never appears agian, even after the revelation about him the Asylum saga. Yea that was pretty funny seeing Slagger "reformed" for a bit. This was an enjoyable issue, once again showed how pathetic the majority of NA is, and once again showed the hatred and mistrust of the humans and robots.magnusr wrote:Seaborn's synopsis:
