Valiants Listed In Price Guide.

Post by whetteon »

I listed all the pre-unity and unity comics on my price guide. While I have inserted the data in for the various premiums that fall under these requirements, I am having trouble displaying them because of the way I set up my site. So I'll continue to work on that.

Prices are all from valiantcomics.com using the way back machine. I notice that 2002 prices were skyrocketing but 2003 prices saw a slump in many of those titles. This begs the questions:
1) Did demand drop because all the board members had the ones they wanted at this time.
2) Did Greg make a correction on his price guide?
3) Something else happened that I'm unaware.

Looks like this years prices will be seeing huge increases across the board if the current trend continues.

At one point, I had a policy that Ebay prices were "automatically discounts",
given that most Marvel or DC books from the 1990s were generally
sold for about 1/2 the price of whatever the price guides said.

For example, Amazing Spiderman #300 listed in the price guides for $80,
but regularly sold on Ebay for $40.

So, any Valiant book selling on Ebay for $15 was listed in
the ValiantComics.com price guide for about $30.

At some point, recently, I decided to make the price guide reflect the
ACTUAL prices paid... which is what the price guides SHOULD do...
(That's what I should have been doing all along, right?)

Anyway, that's the biggest difference in ValiantComics.com now vs. then.

I thought I remembered it saying at one point that prices for selling should be around 1/2 the price guide. I thought I was going crazy when I didn't see that anymore - glad to know that I am not insane.
