What Type Of Valiant Collector Are You? And Why?
This poll is for me to get a general idea of who collects what and why. This isn't meant to start a debate. Just state what you collect and your reasons why. There are no right or wrong answers.
As for me, I feel like a semi-completist (and hoarder). I'd be a completist if I could afford it, but have parted with some hard-to-find things that most others completists would never consider selling because I needed the money at the time.
At any given time, if I have the financial resources, I would always be buying any and all Valiant related items that I could, including picking up duplicate items that are hard-to-find for future trade purposes, etc.---Steve

Well I have way to much investing in this to stop now.
I collect all Valiant items and have become more selective over the years on the Original art I buy......unless it's $5-10 dollars a page
(you would be shocked how much at that price I HAVE bought)
Acclaim same but I have most of all I need from the Acclaim era. I was buying lots of it when it came out. my retailer was GREAT in getting me the Variants and retailer review copies.

I collect whatever I can get my hands on (that means, whatever I can afford or trade for). While my focus would be on VH1 comics, I do have a few Acclaim comics and promo items, trading cards, etc for both universes. And I would love to eventually purchase some original art, but most of what I've found that I like I can't afford (I don't want to buy something cheap just for the sake of having original art - I want it to be something I like). So there's nothing I actively don't collect, but there is a LOT that I just don't have.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I am a pre-Unity guy, but at some point I will have the BWS issues of EW and A&A, as well as maybe a full run of Shadowman some day (most people here say it was good all the way to the end.)
I have a few promos, but am not that attached to them. I want all my cards to GO (listing more later in the B/S/T non-VALIANT thread) and as far as the pre-Unity variants, I will have them all someday. I already have a few...

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Oh boy,here goes...
I collect pretty much anything VALIANT related. This includes the comics, cards, promos, original art, Nintendo, WWF,
Acclaim imprints, video games, magazines with related covers or articles, convention items etc.
I have pretty much most of the comics but will pick up extras of any reasonably priced Pre-Unity, late & last issues, newstand editions, gold logos, retailer reviews etc.
I have spent a lot on original artwork buying in bulk or select pieces.
My favorite art to find is anything Pre-Unity or Unity. I also like art that
features character guest stars in other books and art from last issues.
Since becoming a father 3 years ago I am more conservative in my purchases.
I use my website to showcase my collection and to share info.
I actively buy sell trade to support my habit. My name is sonicdan and I'm a Valiantoholic...

I collect both the Valiant and Acclaim books right now. I'm only a scant few issues away from completing both lists, but I'm in no big hurry. I do collect the cards and some of the promos like the Voyeurs and such but I don't have to have every key chain or pop bottle opener ever made. If I happen along something like that for cheap I might pick it up but otherwise I don't bother.

I really don't have the money or space for Valiant collectables but I used to think I'ld get a full run of VH-1 comics. Now I doubt it.
I thought "How bad could the ones I didn't get be?" Well, after getting a lot of Chaos Effect and Birthquake era Valiants, I've got to say that I didn't realize comic that bad existed.
After buying a slew of them at a convention last October, I found that I really regretted the majority of Valiant comics I got (about 35) and enjoyed the majority of the ones that weren't Valiant (about 40). I don't care if they were only 10 to 50 cent a piece their's no sense in cluttering up my box with a bunch of unreadable crap when there are so many good comics out there for me to get.
I've reached my "crap limit." My VH-1 buying is on hold, maybe perminantly, with the exception of the PsiLords issues I'm missing and the last Bloodshot issue of the Rampage x-over since I enjoyed both those comics.
I have all the Shooter era comics, all of Shadowman, Orstrander's Rai, Vanhook's Eternal Warrior, Micheline's HardCorps, all of BWS's A & A, all Master Darque appearances, and all of Vanhook/Perlin's Bloodshot. I enjoy that stuff and that's enough for me. Most other series/runs are just too painful.

I'm almost through with my Vh-1 run...just odds, ends, vvss and a few golds to go...
I buy pre-unity/unity books whenever I see them out and about...along with the first 12 or so issues of A&A and EW
if I find a quarter bin VH-2 I'll pick things up if I know I don't have something
I don't bother with common VH-1 any more, now that I've completed most of the run...

I just collect VH1, and my goal is to have a full set. Why do I collect Valiants? well, mainly because way back when I read 'em for the first time I was hooked and also because they made a great impression on me. Oh yes, I'll be a hoarder if I could afford it.
I'm not interested at all in VH2, and original art is of no importance to me.
