Hey guys:

I'm working on the script for Solar 2004 and I want to do a reference to the 99 Event.

How does the name "Darque Inferno" sound to you guys? It could be what the news outlets dubbed it.

I know it sounds like something out of Marvel, so if anyone has a better name I'm open to suggestions.

How about something the would refer to the death/fall of Shadowman?

ShadowNight? ShadowTwilight?

Calling it something involving Darque would go by the assumption that the newscasters knew about Darque.

I've always had an image in my head connected to the event.

See, in the future it's commun knowledge that Jack Boniface was Shadowman, so his death has to be public (not secret like in U2K).

So, the image I have in my head is Darque in Times Square fighting Shadowman.

They both die and Jack's body falls to the ground, where he's unmasked in full view of all the media, his face plastered on every TV screen in the world.

Maybe it could be called Darque Shadows so it's half Darque and half Shadowman, lol.

1) does this assume that Darque dies as well?
2) would the media know who Darque is (and his name)?

Otherwise, I think you'd be more "realistic" [and less Marvel-ous] by sticking to a "shadow" and or "jack" headline.

How about "The Longest Night" or something that refers to the aspect of both Jack and Darque's power? Maybe "The Darkening" or "The Darkest Night" (the media wouldn't spell it "D'Arquest Night", would they)?

Oh, and drop me a PM about something related to your project that I want to discuss...

Later,
Ric

I can't find my copy of the VALIANT Voice timeline. What does it say about 1999?
BloodOfHeroes wrote:2) would the media know who Darque is (and his name)?
Didn't a reporter visit Darque's manor in New Orleans once? I think he was welcomed by Sandria who took him out back... or am I thinking of VH 2?

Well, the idea here is for both 2004 projects to be consistant when it comes to this (just in case).

What would you like to call it?

1999 AD---Earth's heroes gather to mourn the death of Jack Boniface a.k.a. SHADOWMAN. SHADOWMAN was killed in a confrontation that led to the destruction of the Darque Power and Master Darque.

Sorry, but it sounds too much like Batman.:)

As corny as "Darque Shadows" sounded, I liked it!:)

How about "Darque Twilight"?

or...."Shadows In Darqueness"?

or..."Shadows Of Darqueness"?

It says "earth's heroes" gather. It doesn't mean that the public knew about what happened.

Ok, let's assume that's true, that this was limited to the heroes.

How do you assume the legend made it to Elya's ears?

How did she find out about the heroes secret funeral and that Jack was Shadowman?

It could have been a secret when he died but a public funeral. I am sure word would be passed around New Orleans. Lets not forget that jack also had a music career and that could also have been public.

Well, he was meant to have a musical carreer but he never got around to it.

According to Elya, he released his first album (single?) in 94, but that never happened in the comics.

In 94 he did get into a recording studio but was arrested before he could finish the first song.

There were some inconsistancies in what Elya told him and what ended up happening... even so, I'm sure that he was destined to die in 99.

As for whether or not his death was a public one, I'd say that it was mostly because it makes it easier.

Imagine if he had died like Norman Osborn did in Spider-Man.

How would people have connected Jack to Shadowman? They didn't connect Norman to the Green Goblin.

See, I thought Elya was a follower of Pierce. Pierce made it her job for 2000 years to track all the "earth heroes" so that she could rebuild the universe with the least amount of resistance. Therefore Elya might of had access to Jack's biography.

As for the music career... well, every legends tends to get bigger as time moves forward.

Shadow's Fall it is :)

Let's keep this name consistant. Not that it might come up, but in case it does :)

Last six-eight page sequence is being writen as we speak. Soon as that's done it's on to the four page epilogue and then, finally, the art teams will get started.

Hey MOTA...been a while, but I'm pleased to see you are getting a project up and running: how about:

"Darque Redux"

"Darque Before the Dawn"

BTW, I never read any of the scripts for the remaining story of UNITY 2000, but will anything in your plot follow what happens to Frank Seleski (V2 Solar)? It mentions in Quantum and Woody # 21 that he disappears in Unity 2000.

NOTE: I collect V2 stuff, but I'm fondest of Phil Seleski - Solar. Hope you do well with the endeavor, and maybe we can share ideas for TV shows again sometime!

Re: the title suggestions.

We settled on Shadow's Fall, but your second suggestion makes me want to consider something like "Dawn of the Darque", heh.

Re: Frank and U2K

All I'll say about that is :D

Everything is being considered, trust me :)

I read those U2K scripts and seen the art, and I don't remember Frank being in them at all, though.

And yeah, what would you like to talk about in particular?
