Re-Reading: X-O Manowar #33
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

Rather messy story. It's enough to bind together all the Chaos Delta stories, no need to build up the Wolfbridge story at the same time.

This, just like all Post-Shooter multi-title crossovers, sucks.
There really isn't much story in this leg of Chaos Effect. You just have X-O, Hardcorps, and Armorines destorying a fleet of spider aliens in space with pathetic ease. After awhile, in another issue, there's no more ships to blow up and I guess that counts as an ending.
The ever-so-pathetic spider aliens, even though there ship should have superior fire power and manpower, never even get in a hit against this extremely small band of attackers. As usual, the action lacks any tension and is just plain boring. The only attempt to give the reader any sense of unpredictablity or progress in this plotline is the subplot with Harada controling Flatline which, honestly, is so stupid it's painful to read.
In this particular issue theirs not even any attempt to introduce who the Armorines and HARDCorps are but it doesn't really matter. They're just warm bodies in space suits that point and shoot and that's it. They had to know that new readers weren't going to jump on with issues that are this bad anyway.
I did enjoy a few pages in this issue: the ones with Randy's subplot. It's the only thing keeping this stinker from getting 3 or 4 in my book. A very generous, rounded up 5.
