Questions about the East Coast Valiant Show
Hi All
I've been receiving many emails about the N.Y. show asking:
1- Where is the show being held and what can I expect to see once I get there?
2- Can I get some of the items you will have at the show?
3- Who will be attending as guests?
4- I want to help and be part of the show. Can I?
5- I can't come to the show, and I really want to be there!
OK here goes...
1- Where is the show being held and what can I expect to see once I get there?
The show itself is being held at the Penn Plaza Pavillion which is connected to the Hotel Pennsylvania...here is a link to the Penn Plaza layout....http://www.pennpavilion.com/ourfacility.html
the show will be held on the ground and upper levels...the ground level will be home to some comic creators such as Neal Adams and a booth showing previews of upcoming movies..there will also be an elevated section to the ground floor which will most likely host George Romero and Elvira...plus some other comic artists..
Going up the moving escalator you will find many comic dealers including Midtown, Metropolis, Golden Age Collectibles, Joe K. (Forbidden Planet) and a bunchload of others..
There will also be some Car models posing for a few bucks with you, bootleg movie dealers ( I got my copies of the British comedy Spaced here)...toys...weapons and swords dealers, CGC, and the area we'll be hanging out in Artists Alley. Here is where most of the artists hang out at tables doing sketch's and promoting their new work...
The Valiant Show guests will be here and at present I am trying to get them all in one continuous line so autographs and sketch's can be obtained easily. You will have the opportunity for some autograph's at the panel sessions, but I would really like to leave this for question and answer's.
I am in the process of arranging lunch times for different artists, so that we can have lunch and socialize with some of the artists..making it feel like just hanging out with friends instead of a show atmosphere.
2- Can I get some of the items you will have at the show?
There are a few projects which will be premiered at the show.
The first is the East Coast ValiantFans.com VSS...this will be offered to the Boardmembers attending and will go on the Valiant site that same evening. There will be 3 auction copies
The second is an "Official" ValiantFans.con VSS..this will also be offered to the boardmembers attending and will go on the Valiant site that same evening.
The third is the East Coast Exclusive Item...this will be made available to those boardmembers that attend and present a valid certifcate. 3 of these items will be going for auction to benefit charities which will be mentioned later. There will be no others.
As at the San Diego show last year, hosted by Betterthanezra, other boardmembers may bring projects of their own. I have no control over these and any questions will need to be adressed with them after the show.
Many of the artists will be offering sketch's and anyone wanting these should either contact myself or one of the attending boardmembers to get one. No guarantee's are made of actually being able to obtain one or of price. They could be free or they may cost you depending on content.
I have promised Knightt that I would personally obtain items from different artists and creators including those not involved with the Valiant show for CFF auctions. So keep your eyes peeled for these as they should definitely appeal to all!
3- Who will be attending as guests?
I have posted a thread mentioning those guests who have confirmed and did not mind having their names shown. Some have asked to not be mentioned for their own reasons. I can say that this may very well be the largest gathering of Valiant and Acclaim guests in a very long time, if not ever.

4- I want to help and be part of the show. Can I?
Definitely!..Bring questions and more questions!..those not attending can send questions to me and I'll ask them..
I have all of the physical labor for the show being taken care of! ..so no need to work out before the show.
5- I can't come to the show, and I really want to be there!
We all have responsibility's which keep us away from things we want. I want to try and accomodate everyone to the best of my ability.
So to try and make everyone feel a little better I will be taking video of the panel sessions and of the show itself to have copies if anyone wants one. All I ask is that you pay for the video tape and shipping.
6- How much will everything cost?
Good question. The admission to the show is $10.00 for each day. I am trying to, but not promising, getting everyone from the valiantboard who attends, in for free.
The 2 VSS's premiering at the show will be $25.00 each. If you buy both I am making a package deal of $40.00 for the pair.
Those at home can get the same deals just add s/h and deliv conf.
The "Exclusive item" is my gift to those attending.
If any other boardmember brings a project, the pricing will be up to them.
I hope this answers everyones questions...anymore... let me know and I'll answer them the best way I can.
I have a question?..Who's buying me lunch?

Rumor has it that Jim Shooter and Bob Layton will be buying your lunch.
Sound of crickets chirping....

so would anyone be willing to possibly get some stuff signed for me?
i'll have to go through and see what i'd like to get signed of course.
looking at the guest list i can imagine a great volume of stuff i'd LIKE to get signed but since i'm not an evil *SQUEE* i sincerely doubt i'll mail someone a 45lb box of comics and expect them to get sean chen to sign 75 issues.
i'd love to attend in person and meet these guys myself...i especially hate i'm missing meeting castrillo considering i'm such a fan and i know he hasn't made a con appearance in probably 10 years.
so PM me back...i'd prefer to have one person so i'm not shipping crap all over the country and the thought of subjecting more then one of you to the hassle of getting stuff signed for me makes me feel all dirty...and not in a good way.
as for sketches, whatever anyone can get for free...i know sean has done free head sketches before so he might be offering the same. i can't imagine castrillo not having a sketchbook there...he'll probably spend the better part of the con drawing stuff.
so i guess the bottom line is whatever i can mooch off you fellas is cool with me.
and even if no one comes forward to offer their services then there's no hard feelings...if i don't ask i'll never know.
you guys rock regardless.
