Re-Reading: X-O Manowar #30
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

In this issue we get to see why Solar needed to be involved. By extreme luck he could find a new seed. Aha.
I'm actually glad to see Aric admit that he depends on the armor, but couldn't he last at least one or two issues without it? (not that I want any repeat of the white king story, but something intelligent should be possible)
Then we get lots of emotional moments because noone thinks about capturing a spider alien to use as host for the seed.
Despite this it's not a bad issue. It's got the Valiant quality.

No action, just emotion. And it actually works for the most part.
There are some minor lapses here: Solar only goes down to the tunnels to ask a spider aliens where a manowar armor is (which he should've been able to remember on his own) and not out of concern for the gilllions of aliens still down there plotting "something big." I would say MangusR has a good point about them not thinking of using a spider alien as a host for the seed but these guys aren't even thinking about going after the aliens at all for some reason (what the hell happened to these characters?)
Why does Solar think the "something big" endangers Aric and why does he think the ONLY way to protect Aric is to get him a manowar armor (Aric can't hire security gaurds)?
The X-O ring is still on the dead alien's finger? Huh? What did Solar do at the end of Solar 7 when he turned into pure energy and went inside the armor (creating what looked like a small inferno inside the armor)? What he just gave the alien terminal sun burn? He cremated the entire body EXCEPT for the alien's ring finger?
Paul's death was powerful but a little rushed. It seems like he would have more to say to Randy. And I don't understand why Aric didn't ask her to leave the room. He had to know what the joining would look like would look like.
