Re-Reading: X-O Manowar #29
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

Kind of feels like all the points made last issue are repeated here. Good and bad. I'll give the same grade.

A mix of good and bad.
The good is there's still drama and tension here. Not nessecarily with the destruction of the X-O (check the name on the cover, another one will show up soon) but the way Paul was wounded was quite powerful and a bit of a shock.
Unfortunately there are problems here. Once again a very small group of humans defeat an army of armed spider aliens with ease. For goodness sake, they're standing in the middle of the cave without cover, you'ld think someone would get lucky at some point and hit them. Paul had to accidently back into a spider alien to get hurt!
The scene with Solar urks me when I think about it. Aric says that they "took care" of the spider aliens. Huh? How? They didn't exactly kill all the ones in that group and they already established there were probably plenty more down there. And what about the pain in the Earth Geoff felt? Shouldn't Solar go in there, find the rest of the aliens, and exterminate them? Do they not care they've got a zillion spider aliens wondering around under New York? I don't get it.
So what is Solar concern about? Aric's safety. I'm not sure why. Aric's sitting there alone, unarmed in his house. If the aliens wanted him dead, he'ld be dead. He's no threat to them without his armor. Solar could've always suggested Aric actually hire some security gaurds. I'm sure two gaurds armed with a BB gun and a letter opener could easily take 50 armed aliens.
And Aric and Randy. Ugh.
It's like a romantic comedy cliche . They treat each other like crap and then end up having sex. But since it's in a comic we take to an almost comical extreme were they a have fist fight that leads to sex. It's just silly:roll:
