Re-Reading: X-O Manowar #27
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

Back to basics. And almost a cross-over (in a non-commiting way). It's just that it lacks that little extra.

I really wish they had decided to ban x-overs in the post-Shooter era. No matter where they take place or who they're with...they suck.
Here I have two comics with storylines I'm getting into. Secret Weapons did this wonderfully creepy issue that actually gave the spider aliens some menace agian. Probably the best post-Shooter spider alien story they did.
Over in X-O I'm enjoying the great chemistry in the X-O and Turok get together. Both groups of superheros explore the alien infested tunnels. Both could've easily taken the aliens and had a very satisfying end to their own story. Afterall, wouldn't it be really cheezy to have both groups be in the exact same area of the tunnels at the exact same time?
Unfortunately, that's exactly happens and basically we get the exact same boring "squash the spider alien" fight scene (really a slaughter) in both issues. So much is repeated it feels like you're paying money just to read the same fight twice.
The spider cyborg preacher is one of the lamest villians in VH-1 and Aric trying to kill him in the same way he did Rexo was kinda lame. And if that liquid (blood?) was from those he slaughtered, why was it green? I missed something, unless we've got green-blooded humans to go along with the red-blooded spider aliens on the moon base.
And what was up with that typo? Anarexo?!?! Is he supposed to have a brother named Bulimo?
A potientally decent issue turned lame. A 6.
