Re-Reading: Solar #52
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

It could! It really could get more stupid. Lots of contrived moments in here. Some things Solar can do, some he can't. And the ending, I wish I knew how to say "pekoral" in english.

I missed last issue but I doubt it matters.
So we have aliens who want to blow up the sun to help their stranded space ship get home. Sigh. Jurgens drew this plot a few years before this issue came out in Armagedon: The Alien Agenda 1. Does he plan on recycling every idea he was involved in at DC?
The plotline worked a lot better at DC. First of all we have really dumb, annoying, gaint aliens on the moon. And then we have some of the dumbest psuedo-science ever. Using Solar's energy to make the sun go nova?!?! The law of physics have been rectonned away.
Solar is a flat character here. Even when he sees Gayle agian there are no real emotion or human reaction to it. Jurgen's manages to write her as a shallow, shill b*tch in a scene that's just dumb.
How can a writer who understands the character and his world this little get on this title? The art ain't anything to brag about either.
