Re-Reading: X-O Manowar #16

I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do

For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.

Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

A rather uninteresting fill-in issue with rushed art.

Very lame story, some thugs with ray guns can almost take out the X-O suit. Nice cover to the issue, but not much else.

Big let down fron the last two issues..But that was a hard act to follow.

Still all in all not bad.

A decent story idea drug down by the execution. Even the art gets in the way with less than unenthusiastic and hard-to-read renderings of action scenes.

But their some good thoughts here. It's nice to see Aric still protrayed as the no-holds barred barbarian (cutting off the dude's finger was just cold). It was nice to have the bad guys actually knock the good skin silly with a big enough concentration of blasts. It's ashame silly red blooded spider aliens didn't think of that. And the overall idea for the story ain't bad.

I think the main thing, beyond the art, that kills the story is that it does feel like a fill-in. Gonzalez does his best work on longer plotlines were he gets to develop characters (especially Randy) over time. Not enough time to develop anything here and no Randy.

A 6.
