Letters to Acclaim

Post by ManofTheAtom »

I was cleaning my room and I found three drafts of letters I wrote to Acclaim three months before they closed.

Here they go:

"Dear X-O editorial team:

This is the first time I write a letter to a comic book company, so I hope it gets published.

I just finished reading issue 17, and I have this to say:

On page 12, panel 1, Donovan says that he wants a new interface with the X-O armor, and what happens? Rand Bannion appears on the last pnale of the issue.

Hmmmm....

I like the new direction, I just hope that with the new writer we get to see more of the history of the armor (especially more about Aric).

Aric's apperance on the Tales of the Lost Land quaterly was great.

Any chance of seeing more of him, maybe on Eternal Warriors?

I've been reading VALIANT since around Unity, and in my opinion the only relaunched character that I didn't like was Ninjak.

I'm still confused about the REAL ending of VH 1 (was it X-O Volume 1 #68, Iron Man/X-O Manowar, or Solar #60?)

I can't wait until the Final Solution.

According to Comic Shop News after F.S. is over there's going t obe a new Harbinger monthly, is it true?

That's it for now, I'll try to send a letter every six months or so.

P.S.: I want a new Solar monthly."

Next letter follows...

"Dear Troublemakers editorial team:

Issue 15, page 10.

Gulp!

Toyo Harada.

Harbinger: Acts of God, page 33, panel 3.

THARADA-001

Master Darque Special Event, page 10, panel 3 and second picture from the left.

Troublemakers issue 2, page 13, panel 4. Parker standing in a graveyard wearing his Troublemaker jumpsuit (Harbinger Wars?)

According to Comic Shop News there's going to be a new Harbinger monthly.

How much will it be connected to Troublemakers?

Did Christine's "battle" with Peter alter her powers, or is she supposed to be this powerful? (on page 27, panel 3 Jane says that if Christine were to die that she would become an angel, and the new Harbinger is a lot more religious than their VH 1 version).

Will the Troublemakers and Harbinger kids be friends or enemies?

I really like your new art team, Kevin's pencils are a lot cleaner than Kenny's (sorry).

Except for his interpretation of Toyo Harada, everything else has beengreat.

P.S.: I want a new Solar monthly."

"Dear Turok editorial team:

The new monthly is still a week away, but I decided to send you a letter now anyway.

Until now the only issue I really liked was Tales of the Lost Land, for three reasons:

1.- Aric. Why is it that Aric could take the X-O medallion off? Could it be because he knows something that no other wearer does?

2.- Tal'Set, the VALIANT one and Gilad, the Warmaster.

3.- Yanick Fireseed.

What are the Harada Wars? (VH 2 version of Harbinger Wars?)

How does Yanick's future relate to Magnus'?

I hope you're not using Marvel's rule of time-travel (for each event you change in the past, you only create an alternate dimension), because if you do it means that there are already three futures of the VALIANT Universe (Magnus', Doctor Tomorrow's and Yanick's).

About the Village of the Four-Breasted Women.

It makes me think of the spider-people. A "Same as it Never Was" version of Chichak, Turok's old friend from VH-1?

P.S.: I want a new Solar monthly"

They're not great letters, lol.

I wish I had the others I wrote (I wrote one for each title), but these three are the only ones I could find.

You know it's funny I had 7-9 letters printed during the Acclaim days and I thought it was cool. I have noticed a few of us that are members being printed also.

I have been looking through many of the Acclaim books rec. and I have to say I really did like the line (go ahead flog me). There were many highlights. It was easy to get a letter printed thats for sure.

I remember calling Walter Black at the Acclaim offices right before Unity 2K came out and asked him if I could have 25 retailer previews to pass out at local cons we said sure and a week later they showed up. It wasn't hard to get him on the line either.

Sad, but true.

If you read the Quantum and Woody letters column in issue 7, there's a letter from a girl in Michigan who picked up issue number 2 when her roommate's boyfriend left it behind one evening. It got her hooked, but she made it a point to say that she despised the boyfriend.

Yeah, the boyfriend was me. I remember picking that issue up and, randomly going through the letters column (which I usually don't do) and, hey...the Hell...?!?

There's no justice.

Anyway, that was a book good enough to be under Shooter's reign...

At least you made her addicted to comics so I'd say you got your revenge. :D

Thanks for the laugh. I saw that even the editor commented on the boyfriend part (in issue 8 btw).

Oh yes. I got some letters published, and one was in Quantum and Woody. I wrote lots of nonsense, but I stand for the praise I gave to Quantum and Woody.
