Re-Reading: Solar #33
I thought we could do a book a day (that way people can read one every day or catch up on weekends), talk about it on its own, in the context of whats next, in regards to what expectations it creates and vote on how good it is. I don't have to be the one that posts everyday. If I miss a day or if someone wants to take over please do
For voting think of your single favourite comic book (not just VALIANT) as the benchmark - thats a 10 - and grade according to that.
Make sure to mention what you like'd about the book, what you didn't, what you wish they would have done, your favourite panels, lines of dialogue, little bits of trivia etc.

Last issue I asked for more superhero and less talk. Be careful what you ask for... It's a decent superhero story. Not great, not bad. It's not classical Valiant, still it's good with some variation and it's way better than what some other companies put out.

I gotta you, tell this one doesn't work for me. None of the characters have any depth and the story is just boring.
And I don't know what Destroyers' trying to do here. Does he want to do recon and get info out of the fleet? Does he just want to destroy it? Regardless i don't understand why he has a hard time with either.
He keeps getting shot by the ships, heck, one time because he gets lost in thought in the middle of the fleet! This never happened to the real Solar and he isn't the "warrior" Destroyer is supposed to be.
And destroying one ship seems to be a challenge to him (again notice he's using oh-so-boring hand beams). The real Solar just drilled holes in them and they exploded or blew them all away in nuclear blast. Why can't Destroyer do the same?
And why are the aliens so boring here? If we're to go into deep space and spend three issues on them you'ld think we'ld get new insights into their culture. Or atleast see some new weapons they use to defend themselves (or heck atleast pull out the old ones they used back in Solar 6). Just something, anything new here would be great.
Why don't the aliens decompress and explode when they flew out of the ship? Did the law of physics get rectoned?.
Why didn't Destroyer atleast think about the humans he had just seen held on the fist ship when he destroyed the thing? The way the scene played out it looked like he forgot about them or didn't care.
Their's just nothing here i enjoyed at all. I would think even a new reader would be bored and think Destroyer is an idiotic wuss after reading this issue. It pains to do so, but I'm going to have give this one a 4.

Really, this should have been a stand alone mini-series.
