I was surprised no one beat me to them...
I rarely get to see good BINs first.

I saw them as they were being posted... I even stayed up a little late to see if he was posting any Harbingers (but he didn't).greg wrote:Yep, I saw those right before I went to bed.x-omatic wrote:Since Greg did't post it I figured I would for him.

You passed on the Rai's? I will buy 3 & 4 all day at 15.00 let alone a set.tssgery wrote:

yes, I passed. I've got 3 or 4 of each and while having another for that price wouldn't hurt... I've been buying some more expensive books lately and need to cut down the spending a little.x-omatic wrote:You passed on the Rai's? I will buy 3 & 4 all day at 15.00 let alone a set.tssgery wrote:

Did you read what the seller wrote? "1. These characters will never have new stories written about them."
Wow. How short sighted is HE?
I'll bet someone said that about Captain America in 1959...or Flash in 1955....or the X-Men in 1974....or Magnus in 1988.
Revivals are what makes fiction such a wonderful artform.

Mmmmm....well, the Cap stories are a stretch...how bout 1973 then?shaxper wrote:Well the X-Men were still appearing in new stories; just not theirs
And speaking of which, Zeph, it sounds like you might have an opinion to express here.

This guy flat out says he'll come down on the shipping, though I'm glad it scared the other bidders away

I didn't see it at first, but he says in the auction description "Shipping price will be an estimate for now and will be adjusted after the close of the auction." He doesn't mention anything about handling fees, so if he'll agree to do media mail, I end up in a very good place.Knightt_333 wrote:Hot DAMN bud, that is a pretty good deal on the books... shipping totally sucks though and will hopefully go down for you. I am sure that s/h scared other bidders away.
I wonder if I can request that he not send the issues I don't need.
Wonder if he's a vc.comer...

I was going to bid just for the Solar books, but was worried about the condition of the books. The reason i like pictures is to see if they are bagged or not. I know you can't be sure if they are in bags that they always were. But you can be sure that if they are in a pile w/o bags chances are they are not NM.shaxper wrote:This guy flat out says he'll come down on the shipping, though I'm glad it scared the other bidders away

Several of the buyers who left him feedback have noted how excellent the conditions of the items were. I agree there's always some risk, but if even a third of the pre-unity issues in this lot weren't NM after all, I'd bring it up with him. He seems very proud of his 100% feedback and is most likely intent on keeping it that way.

not long once i started really looking in earnest.
maybe 3 months in all.
there are books that i bought for a buck that are just horrible...storywise.
go back and read deathmate red...i dare you.
i've been re-reading books as i complete them. i've started at the front of the box and gotten up to deathmate. jumping jesus on a pogo stick...that book was BAD. the valiant issues were tolerable...the image books would make good toliet paper. i noticed that for the most part, valiant was very respectful of the characters from image they used. they changed things up a little but i can't think of anyone who's moral character was totally reversed. image however, basically bent aric and turok over and molested them. turok was a cruel savage and aric was ultimately a whiny *SQUEE* pansy without the armor. it made me sick. if you want to remake them fine, but don't make them unrecognizable. you want aric and turok to be bad guys then thats fine too...but don't insult my intelligence in the process.
i've recently been filling in some holes by grabbing "low grade" cgc books for next to nothing. i consider the cost homeboy spent on getting the book cgc'ed when i buy so $15.00 for an 8.5 armorines #0 gold may be a little high for the book, but i get that cool *SQUEE* case for next to nothing. i got a 6.5 harbinger #1 with coupon for $18...again, might be high for just the book but the guy paid at least $20 to get it graded. i'm not buying it to resell anyway.
i've got some more auctions up and i'm trying to decide how to allocate the money, i kinda stiffed dino a few weeks back. i was going to get a bunch of books from him and then had a situation arise and had to bail.
so i might see if he's still willing to work with me a little.
anyway, i'm in the process of cleaning the "cave" to get some pics...i'd love to see the other comic rooms out there.
