How bad was "Geomancer"??
I think I read a couple of disses towards the Geomancer book (1-8). So exactly how BAD was it? All I know is that it dealt with a totally new Geomancer.

I just started reading the Geomancer run two nights ago for the first time. When I got up to number 4 I realized I'm missing number #5 so I stalled. The missing issue is sitting in another box I'm sure which is in storage. It will be awhile before I can finish to number 8.
So far I'm not very impressed... but it has its moments.

He got thrown into the Lost Land at the end of Chaos Effect. He could have come back at any time. He could have come back a year later but aged ten years. Now that would have been cool. Geoff coming back a lot older, tougher, and more experienced from living in the Lost Land, and taking over from the blind guy (what was his name??). Maybe he would be able to hold his own against Gilad and be able to fight alongside him. That would be sweet!uruchuu wrote:I was always partially confused by the story. Wasnt Geoff supposed to have lived a lot further into the future (Rai 0)?
But anyways....I thought the Geomancer issues weren't bad, buit definitely weren't too great. 'Course I only have the first 4.

I guess I'm alone, I thought that Geomancer was a really insightful book. Instead of haveing the Geomancer be the eyes and ears of the Earth, (which would have been a book that would have had little real potential as its own title; maybe as a yearbook) we have a guy who is dependant on the earth. The earth is his eyes, since he's blind. I thought it was great conceptually, here is a guy who is really co-dependant with the earth. It was short lived, and in his appearences afterward, we see how much stronger he grew as a character.
And in terms of the Rai 0 thing- bigger problem, where did Geoff get a niece? He has no siblings.

Aram (Armstrong) was apparently always destined to be the Eternal Geomancer, the Geomancer who wouldn't die, while Gilad was destined to be the Fists and Steal of the Earth, or something like that. Not that this was set up in any of the early issues, and it kinda' leaves you wondering what Ivar's purpose is in contrast. Under-achiever.MiamiLoco wrote:oh no, now you have to talk about this "Eternal Geomancer" what's that all about??!!Oh man, dont even go the Eternal Geomancer route.
Anyhow, Rockland Tate gets murdered and, in a really really inferior Magnus story, The Earth sets things into motion so Aram becomes the Eternal Geomancer. No idea where his story goes from there, except that I know this is the major theme of Eternal Warrior: Fists and Steal.

I'll probably pick up the book out of curiousity at some point. The covers look great (looked at this sites cover gallery) but Rags is only credited with the first half of the series
. Was this correct and was the fill-in (replacement?) artist(s) any good? (I know the three or four monthes before Accliam took over, nearly every Valiant comic I looked through had terrible art, which I always suspected was to make the new guys they were bringing in look better)
One thing about Geomancer though: The subtitle says "Guardian of Earth". Shouldn't it be "Guardian of the Earth"? I mean, the dude's not supposed to guard a mound of dirt is he?

You mean that was an actual VH-1 concept? I thought that was just a bad VH-2 revamp idea. I'm glad I try to ignore all the VH-1 Acclaim stuff as much as I can.shaxper wrote:Aram (Armstrong) was apparently always destined to be the Eternal Geomancer, the Geomancer who wouldn't die, while Gilad was destined to be the Fists and Steal of the Earth, or something like that. In some issue of Magnus or Rai during the Malev war, Magnus says that Gilad and Rockland Tate came back, but would not talk about the situation on the moon. I always presumed this was building toward a plotline that never occured. Also, didn't Leeja or someone make a desperate break for North Am while fleeing the Malevs, calling for Gilad to aid her? That never went anywhere either. Seems like something else was planned for Gilad and it got canned at the last minute.
