Well I basicly have their entire first year run excluding special covers. Which a lot of them I do have as well. But I have every regular comic from the first year that they published. I enjoyed them because I like comics not for profit and I still have them. I doubt I'd sell then even if the price was 10 times what this person is selling them for.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that ever happening.

Well I would find it hard to part with any comic in my collection. I got them for me to enjoy and I sometimes do go back and look through the older issues. I never got one comic with the idea of reselling it.

Looks like ol' Flying Donut's at it again, grading Fair books as "VG".

Ah well.

That's true, but Donut should know better. You can't grade books with spine cracks like that VG. Even if it's still a solid copy, I'd bet those tears in the spine go through the book, and you need to say it's a Fa/G or G-. but with VG appeal. That's the way I do it anyway.

With the scan that good you can pretty much tell it's a Fa/G, though.

I agree from that picture you can tell its not a VG comic easy enough.

Thats a lot better than some sellers who say the same thing, but show the book in a 1&1/2 inch picture. At least you should be able to judge it yourself, and if a buyer can't with a large scan like that its pretty sad.

Yeah, but Donut's like that...I once bought a B&B #34 graded VG/F...got the book, and the cover had become detached and GLUED back on to the spine.

Sigh.

What *SQUEE* me off is that I only paid $75 for it.

Ah well. $75 for a VG/F copy is a STEAL.

Everyone notice the large piece missing from the top of the spine on the latest book? That's what knocks it squarely into the Fair grade, with all the rest of the wear.

Even if the rest of the spine was whole, with the top piece missing and the horizontal book-length crease, and other assorted wear, I couldn't have called this any better than VG- and probably would've went with G/VG. But the spine looks perferated and the top staple doesn't even look attached anymore. Fair/Good is about it, I'm afraid.

What really gets me is the rationalizing that guys like donut give after the fact: "well, for what you paid it was a good deal even at the lower grade." NO! EFF THAT! I WANT WHAT WAS ADVERTISED AT THE PRICE I PAID, DUMB AS!! NOT WHAT YOU THINK IS A GOOD PRICE IN RETROSPECT!

Yeah, pieces missing, unless the book is otherwise IMMACULATE, and the piece isn't more than 1/8" diameter, drops the book instantly to "best grade of Good."

With pieces THAT big, and all the wear, I could never get away with calling it better than Fair.

<rubs hands in glee>...yesssss....my disciples are growing in number....

If I had a dollar for every time I read the words "well, you got a good deal anyways", I'd be a millionaire.

Which reminds me.....

Well, I'm no one's 'disciple' but I know a bullshite line when I hear one, and that old chestnut about how, "you got a good deal for the price even if my advertised Fine/Very Fine turned out to be a Very Good"

CRAP!!

If I wanted a VG I wouldn't have bid on your supposed F/VF book jackas! And I don't really care what you think is a good deal for the price I paid. Either sell what you advertised or get out of my face! I hate it when sellers try to tell me what was a good deal after the fact! It's my money, I'll decide whether I've gotten a sufficiently 'good deal', not you!!

Alright, I'm having a flashback to icomics when that baztard sold me a supposed NM- Primer 2 and because it only sold for $22.00 he sent a VG/F instead! Of course, he's NARU'ed now since I killed him and stuffed him into three long boxes and buried him...

Okay just ignore that last part, thanks!

Around here we have a similar phrase.... "You can put lipstick on a pig, but in the end it's still a pig".

This seller has listed and re-listed these comics for the past 3-4 months. S/he started at $125 for the set, and is now at $49.99:

http://cgi.ebay.com/HELLS-ANGELS-SUED-M ... dZViewItem

The sad thing is that is someone actually buys it, even at the current price, that they'll make their listing fees back AND still make a profit.....
