Would you have taken the chance on this auction?
I saw this and thought it would be a great deal if it wasn't being sold by someone with a 1 feedback. The high bidder has a 0!

Well, from his perspective, at least the seller is less suspicious than he isx-omatic wrote:The high bidder has a 0!

On the one hand, the seller's feedback shows that he came through on a high priced auction before. However, it looks like it COULD be the same Hulk 181 pictured in this auction. Probably not, but a little shady.
I'd never trust that list of issues from such an unexperienced seller without pictures to prove them, but there's no way he lifted those few photos from another auction (no other self respecting seller would picture such rare gems without bags and boards), so I'd bid based upon what I saw in the pictures, and probably not much more than that.
I have a feeling he's on the level, but I can't base that on anything other than the fact that he came through on a very shady looking auction with an issue pictured without bag and board. Since everything worked out fine, I kind of feel like this guys is simply very bad at "dressing up" his auctions.

There's no way I would have bid more than $300-$400 on this lot, even from a GREAT seller..the books are all likely VG/F to Fine+. There are a couple of great keys (Hulk 181, Spidey #97, 98, and 121) but that's it. The rest of it is mid-grade Bronze junk.
If you're a seller, it's a waste of time to buy collections like this unless you can be assured of at least double your money back to cover fees and time. If you're a collector....well....it's definitely no deal above $600. I'm VERY, VERY surprised THREE bidders bid over $1000 for this.
I GUARANTEE you, the lot wouldn't have gotten over $200 without the hulk....people have been paying STUPID money for this book for the last five years....it's got to end sometime. There are, after all, THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of copies available.
And...it's likely the '0' and the '1' are in cahoots. For sure, no, but likely.

The only way I would have taken any chance on this auction is if he accepted paypal. At least using my credit card I would have had some protection, not much, but some. There would be no way I would send this guy a check.
