Does anyone care about Warriors of Plasm anymore?
I know Defiant was a fantastic failure, but I remember Warriors of Plasm #1 being "THE Book" for a short while. I found about ten of them in a quarter bin today. Should I go back and buy them, or is that about what they go for these days?

I read it and I thought it was great, but I seriously doubt it's worth buying multiple copies. However the concept was neat and having the zero issue made of cards that you put in a binder was really cool because it definately kept the number of complete mint zeros to a minimum.
Good skin, gone bad.

That is a good deal but you wouldn't get much back even if you could find someone to resale them to right now. It might go up if Shooter ever licenses the concept out or returns to comics but since niether has happened over the last few years I'm not holding my breath. It's ashame, it was damn good series.shaxper wrote:I know Defiant was a fantastic failure, but I remember Warriors of Plasm #1 being "THE Book" for a short while. Someone on this board has padded my shipments with Turok #1's. I forgot who it was. The ones he sent me were in better shape then the one I had so who can complain?uruchuu wrote:I remember awhile back, someone I kept buying comics from online kept using Plasm issues as padding.I didnt mind though, free comics in readable condition with good stories are fine by me!

I was always under the impresssion he gave them to Golden Books (or whoever got them) because he had a good relationship with them and could get the properties back (or atleast work on them) with relative ease if he ever wanted to.UnknownTales wrote:He cant license the concept out, it was sold. He has no connection to the characters except an emotional one.

Issue 0
This is an older thread, but as some of you may know, I am relatively new to the world of Jim Shooter. I am interested in just buying the Plasm series, especially the issue 0 card set/binder.
I'm wondering if buying the "Warriors of Plasm" #9 Tin Set is a good deal? It seems to be the entire regular set, plus a few extra cards. Is there a review of this on this site anywhere?
Thanks

Re: Issue 0
I have a second edition binder, full common set, full chase card sets (both). The whole deal, I am pretty sure it has the send away back art as well... PM me if interested. This is a complete set. Embossed cards and all holofoil chase cards (and card from the binder)JonesyAZ wrote:I am interested in just buying the Plasm series, especially the issue 0 card set/binder.

I have an unopened tin set as well... if I remember correctly, yes there are five extra cards, plus the cards in the tin are of much better quality, thicker stock.
PM me if interested in one or both.

It certainly does seem quite easy to find these books, which is why i'm excited to finally go back and read comics that I just couldn't afford as a younger man (I am 30 now
).
Chiclo, what is your opinion of the Warriors of Plasm run from 0-13? And is the "Home for the Holidays" trade a fun read too?

I thought "Home for the Holidays" was a great read.JonesyAZ wrote: And is the "Home for the Holidays" trade a fun read too?
Plus it picks up from the story of the first big arc and then leads into Plasm #5.
I would have rather seen the promo art of the Plasm Xmas tree that was made of Org creatures as the cover art for the book though.
There was a cool promo preview page from one of the issues (Plasm #4):

That's cool. Y'know, i've heard about the hoarding concept both on here and on your podcast; do you find it overwhelming to own multiple copies of the same books? When I had bought the long box recently that introduced me proper to Valiant, there were some duplicate copies in there, but I ended up selling them at a local second hand book store (they were all post-Unity very common issues, like Turok #1), just because I have a hard time owning two of the same thing.
Do folks hoard books in case that the value goes up in the future for re-selling possibilities?
Thank you for the chattin'.

There aren't many issues I hoard. Warriors of the Plasm 1 and Home for the Holidays I mentioned already, Unity 0 and to a lesser extent Unity 1 and the Unity Yearbook and a handful of others - Comico Primer 2 (first app of Grendel), Fantastic Four 211 (first app of Terrax) all come to mind.JonesyAZ wrote:That's cool. I hoard issues that I really like. I don't keep them for investment purposes - I know that Unity 0 won't go much over 50 cents in value in the next 10 or 20 years. When I was putting together my Valiant set, pretty early on I was buying lots of books on eBay and there were several comics I ended up with ten or more copies of, mostly the common ones like Turok 1 and Magnus 25. I had a bunch of Unity 0 and started keeping the ones I had rather than trading or selling them off and now I have over 60 copies. Eventually, I'd like to have an entire short box filled with Unity 0.
Except for the Comico Primer 2, I won't pay much for a hoard book. When I run across them in quarter or fifty cent bins, I pick them up. Mostly because the books I hoard are worthless.

You have the 1st appearance of Terrax? That is awesome! One of my favorite titles of all time is the first 25 or so issues of New Warriors, and I remember Terrax being one of their worst nemeses in those early stories. He is bad-@$$!
Anyways, thank you for shedding some light on the concept of hoarding. It was just a new idea to me

Mostly because the books I hoard are worthless. The neat thing about having multiple copies of a book is that you can look at all the small differences between copies. The box that I had bought had three copies of Turok #1, and two of the chromium covers looked almost faded(like they were in the sun?), while the third copy's chromium was pristine and full of color. I ended up selling the two faded-looking ones, but kept the nicer one.

So I ended up ordering a special edition tin set of the Plasm 0 cards, the 1st edition binder, un-opened, and a set of Warriors of Plasm 1-13, plus the "Home for the Holidays" one-shot. I'm hoping to get them early next week. I'm honestly really excited about it!
BTW, I realize that I come across with child-like excitement over re-discovering these dead universes(lol), but it's really fun for me to enjoy these books all these years later.
Thank you for letting me talk about this stuff, y'all!
