i've seen that artwork before but can't say i've seen the litho before today.

is it possible it was made for a store who was hosting an appearance of bernard chang when dr. mirage was coming out?

i've got nothing substantial to back that hypothesis...just noticing the name on the bottom of the print sounds like a comic store.

You betcha! Jim Hanley's is located on 33rd and Sixth, in Midtown Manhattan, a giant selection of current and recent issues on display, in looooooong aisles. In store signing is my guess.

You called it a litho, or is it a poster, maybe. Like a giveaway on the day of his appearance. Or maybe the litho was for sale with him signing it.

I bought it recently from a collector so I don't know its origin. He called it a lithograph and it is made of heavy card stock. I'm pretty happy I found something you guys have not seen.

hey all! that was a print done for a store signing at jim hanley's universe comic book store in new york city. i do not remember when, but i would assume it was around sept 1993, in conjunction with the release of issue #1. i still have the original, but it has water damage from a leaky pipe at the valiant offices.

i also did a similar but different print for kaboom comics in dallas, but i do not know if they are still around as the original owner sold his two stores years ago. that print was done on glossy paper with red ink for the "rays", whereas the jim hanley's was b/w.

I said it once and I'll say it again.

No one but Bernard Chang should ever draw Carmen Mirage.

Oh. You meant the art, not Carmen. Ummm... That's what I meant, too. Yeah. That's the ticket.

The books in which another artist draws Carmen are just embarrassing.

This piece would look very cool with the red. Did anyone else notice the image style on Mirage's hand? I thought that was cool.

i do not remember the print count on those posters. i believe it was a free giveaway if you bought a book at the store for the signing. 500? 1000? can't be more than that. it was a one day thing.

Very cool. Makes me wonder what else is out there that we havne't seen archived on-line yet.
Ken Branch sent me a pix of this Dr. Mirage print, a while back ago, that I didn't
previously know about as well.

For those who are interested the litho is NOT for sale. I paid close to $200 for it to complete my Dr. Mirage collection (only to find out about the red version ). I will ask the seller if he has anymore he is willing to sell.
