Bob's Surgery
Hi-
I think it would be cool if one of the many artists on this board would draw a "Get Well from all of us at Valantcomics.com" sketch, with alot of the different Valiant characters wishing Bob a quick recovery. I was an Art major in school, but I know there's better artists on the board than me.
I'm looking forward to Bob's FUTURE auctions.
PS---check out Bob's website for Future comics, his current autographed comics & TPB's are definitely worth picking up!!:)---Steve G

Bob, I'll pray for a quick and speedy recovery
I didn't see anywhere on the site that viewing comments requires a response let alone being able to draw! I am not being a jerk but damn Steve, chill out, I thought we were all friendly with VALIANT as the common interest here! RELAX!!

I agree... I can't draw, but I can tell you what's wrong with your drawings.
I guess that makes me an editor, right?
Seriously, though, I'm sure we're all hoping Bob makes a quick recovery...
I once broke my heel bone in junior high school.
I remember sticking a coat hanger into the cast
so I could scratch all the itches in there...
Man, did it ITCH!!! You just wanna rip that cast off and... --- oh wait...
Bob might be reading this... uhhh... nevermind.
(Here's hoping he doesn't have an old plaster cast like I did!)
Hurry Back!

Hey, Guys--
Thank you SO much for all your wishes for a quick recovery. I'm doing my damnest to get on my feet a.s.a.p. About another three weeks according to the Sawbones.
I have to say that I'm touched by the outpouring of good will shown by the members of the Valiant Message Boards. I stayed away from posting here for a very long time because I got the impression that most of you thought I was the Devil himself--judging from some fairly harsh criticisms of my tenure at Valiant.
Some of that is probably deserved.
But--a lot of it wasn't.
However--it just goes to show you that it's never too late to be horribly wrong.
I was.
I always thought that my die-hard Iron man fans were without equal.
You guys certainly give them a run for their money as far as personal consideration, courtesy and loyalty to the characters.
I'm proud to be associated with this great legacy that you're keeping alive.
Thank you again,
Bob Layton

Alrighy what is Bob having surgery on? Did I miss something? I dont remember seeing anything like that...Anyway someone drop some knowledge on me..also..I can't draw much either...I like to think that I can, but I really cant. Well in elementary school me and a friend drew about 100 pages of stick figure wars...not bad stuff..

Mr. Layton,
We appreciate you being here. You are the co-creator of a great universe. The Valiant Universe that gave us so many great stories and an alternative to the corporate giants' comics which were printed to remain unread and preserved in bags.
And you shared with us a great character, X-O, a favorite of mine.
We thank you.

Bob posted this message last Sunday, under the thread "Bob Layton's STUFF". Maybe you missed it:
"I thought I'd drop all of you a post to let you know that I'm currently recovering from bone surgery and I'm going to be totally immobile for the next few weeks. I'd like to apologize for not answering everyones' e-mails swiftly. It's a little uncomfortable to sit at the computer.
After I recover, I'll get back to sorting out and auctioning the Valiant goodies.
My surgery went well and I'm
expected to make a full recovery. It's something I've been putting off for a long time (insert *SQUEE* joke here). About 20 years ago, I broke my left foot while playing frizbee. The bone never set correctly and it created a spur large enough for Tiger Woods to tee off from, leaving me the choice of surgery or going barefoot for the rest of my existance.
Currently, I'm unable to walk without crutches and I'm in a lot of pain, but I should recover full ability after it heals. The doc says it'll be about four weeks before I'm ready to kick someone in the *SQUEE* with it.
Good health to all of my Valiant friends, Bob"

Yeah I did miss that...that sucks...having stuff done to your feet sucks since you kinda keep them to get around and stuff...anywa glad to hear that you made it through and hope that you get back on your feet soon. Some people my scoff, but I have seen some harry injuries thanks to the ole flying disc. Oh course I think that more than a few could be blamed on certain substances...
