magnus, did u win it? is it color art or 3m?
www.ForeignComics.com - Valiants in Spanish, French, Italian, etc.
I'll let you know when I get it. I think it is colored ink art. Ernie Colon did some issues where both ink and color art is on the same page. Often painted panel by panel and then pasted onto the same board. They usually go for around $100, but as we know there's no rules in valuing unique items.IMissValiant wrote:magnus, did u win it? is it color art or 3m?

No rules at all. I paid $350 for a page once. I was very happy with it but eventually had to let it go in a trademagnusr wrote:I'll let you know when I get it. I think it is colored ink art. damn. it looks so much like 3m. i would've bid on it if it were real. see here's another example of sellers not knowing their market. If i were selling it, I'd damn make sure I stated it was not 3m.

Looks like the original to me
I'm only going by the little pic, but it looks like the original to me. Those registration marks are from Production (scott friedlander himself probably stuck those on...) You wouldn't see the "color" of the registration mark tape showing if it were a 3M. And the lettering is clearly cut out and laid on top. There's some shadowing, something you wouldn't see in a color proof made from the film, because that would just be an additional black plate.
Sorry I didn't notice this discussion earlier.

Well, this auction wasn't "a shame", because the seller didn't know much
about comic books, and there was a near-full photo available.
(No condition stated, so I assumed the worst and paid the minimum.)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6560904758
I guess the "shame" comes in with the fact that there are only about
1,200 copies of this book in existence...
(Shadowman Vol 3 #1 Variant with $3.95 cover price)
...and it's a shame that this one is now in VG condition.
...and it's a shame that it had to be rescued.
Oh well, I guess that makes the near mint ones at least 0.1% rarer.

Cool find Greg, I see the seller made the classic mistake of spelling Acclaim as "Akklaim" and does not make mention of Valiant anywhere in the description.greg wrote:Well, this auction wasn't "a shame", because the seller didn't know much

Yeah... right $599 for 10 long boxes of commons and only $150 to ship. Me thinks ol' K. has gone koo-koo.

I wasn't sure if this was the right area for this, but it seems right...
Here was the first auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6567780888
It looks like the seller wasn't 100% sure about what he had, but at least having an open ended auction meant he wouldn't get ripped off too bad, right? WRONG!
One of the many eBay Valiant Vultures saw a pigeon and couldn't wait to pounce. They offered a certain amount if the seller would end early, which he did:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6568228196
The buyer did nothing wrong except use the seller's ignorance to get a bargain. Meanwhile, the seller just lost somewhere between $50-$100 because he couldn't be patient and let the auction end. Good work, buddy!

This seller must be using an old Wizard price guide that was kept in the safe along with the Magnus 12.
Wow and Only $11.20 for shipping and required insurance.

Note that bidding starts at $50 but that there is also a reserve.Daniel Jackson wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/Magnus-Robot-Fighte ... dZViewItem

I should bid $50 just so he thinks it is that valuable. Then he will relist it when the reserve is not met

Certainly not NM, but a solid VF. I would have thought it would go for more since other board member bid on it. Still a great price though. I'd pay $11 for these all day long
