Just curious
Seems like we have a lot of users with Rai icons here. I was always under the impression that Rai was one of the lesser appreciated Valiant heroes, especially with the low early print runs. I happen to LOVE the original Rai. Are many of you early Rai fans, or is it merely the bloodshot connection?

You've got a really interesting point there, but I don't think it was the amount of people who read those orginal stories so much as it was the excitement it inspired in them. The orginal was cool and I wish they had found a way to keep the lineage of his power going. The way he formed his weapons out of energy was just one of coolest things in the world (not to mention that great "look" the character had).shaxper wrote:Seems like we have a lot of users with Rai icons here. I have RAI #5 as my avatar because it's one of the most beautiful covers of the Valiant universe. It's peaceful, yet dangerous. I also love mostly black covers. They tend to stand out more, contrasting the art on the page. And they're harder to keep in good condition. Harbinger is my favorite series, but this is my favorite cover.

I had Rai 3 until last month. It was the first comic I ever bought.

Too funny.
Seriously, Rai #7 is perhaps my 3rd fav Valiant book ever. Death of the title character...? Never been done before. Very cool, very poignant, and very moving.
And I remember thumbing through a stack of Rai #3's when they were new to cherry pick the best ONE....damn me! I shoulda bought the whole stack.
To add insult to injury, I traded that Rai #3 several months later...when it was only NINE DOLLARS in Wizard.
ARGH!!!
