Which Valiant acquisition felt the best?
We've all had some amazing finds now and then. Which one felt the best, or was your favorite acquisition memory?
I suppose this could be the same as "which was your best deal?", but sometimes the favorite or best feeling find isn't necessarily the most profitable.
Mine would be Harbinger #1 in late 1992. The Valiant craze was just hitting its peak, with Harbinger at the forefront. I went to a comic show knowing damn well that the "hot" Valiant issues were well out of my price range, so when a dealer offered me a Harbinger #1 with coupon, near mint aside from a 3/4 inch diameter impression near the center of the cover, for $35, I just about fainted. I didn't even have that kind of money on me, but my dad was with me, and offered to buy it as a Hanukkah present.

I was in Hong Kong all the way through the valiant craze. The best book I ever saw in person was X-O Manowar #6. I saw a Magnus 12 in about 1996. When I was looking at schools in the US I stopped in a comic shop in Texas and found a Harbinger #1 with coupon for $7. I will never forget that. And I havn't seen a harby 1 in a store since.

I never had the opportunity to SEE a Harb #0 (I'd given a LCS owner a set of TWO #1 coupons, to replace a #4 coupon I did NOT have, for a Harb #0 from a bunch he was 'ordering'..he never, ever got me my copy) until the mid 90's, and of course, everyone wanted $150+ for them. I owned the entire regular set from almost the beginning, but this book was forever out of my reach. No one had it, and certainly no one was willing to sell it who DID have it for less than ridiculous prices.
In 1997 I stumbled across both my first copies of Harb #0 and Magnus #0 w/card, in a huge sale.....for 30 cents each.
I just about cried.

one of the best finds/deals/feelings i got form valiant came when i went to this shop near troy MI that was basically a huge warehouse...first i found multiple copies of solar 1-5...all at cover price...then i found an overpriced rai 9 gold...then an eternal warrior 1 gold embossed for 4.95...my pulse started racing thinking i was going to find at least 1 copy of every single valiant book i could ever want...i spent the rest of the afternoon searching-but to no avail...it was just cool thinking i was gonna score big (which i did, but i was still hoping for more!)

1995 OR 1996 my LCS was moving to another location I went to a big moving sale and I was always the "Valiant" guy. One of the owners gave me a bag of stuff and said I could have it if I wanted it.
I opened it up and a full Birthquake survival kit was in there and a Diamond Unity set (at first we both didn't know how rare that was)
all for FREE. That qualifies for me the best none paying acquisition I ever got Valiant related.

The day I bought Rai 3. If it wasn't for that book, I would never had gotten hooked on Valiant. It is what started it all for me so it will always be my best buy ever.
