I have no idea about the public slander either! This is just what Starlin told me via email, all of which you read in an earlier post!Todd Luck wrote:Anyone know what the public slanders and private threats he's talking about are?

The above pic= Carmen Mirage, Tomb Raider.
I saw the character designs that Anthony posted on the old mailing list and they sucked.
The characters looked like they were from the Batman Animated Series by Bruce Timm, and Hwen looks like a cross between Dr. Mirage and Marvel's Dr. Strange.
You have actual art from the one shot? I'd like to see it.architect wrote:I thought that as well!! You should see Armstrong from that issue! GEEZZZZZ. He looks absolutely horrible, but CARMEN IS HOT on the first couple of pages in a teddy!

It really depends on the character.Knightt_333 wrote:WTF kind of weapons combination is THAT in the pic above ? Geez an antique and a modern weapon. Just leads me to believe that Valiant/Acclaim would never recover no matter the circumstances.
The combo works for someone like Ivar or Gilad, but not someone like Carmen.
The look and attitude are completely Anti-Carmen.
Only Bernard Chang should draw Dr. Mirage and Carmen.
Let me put it like this:
Carmen Mirage was kicking *SQUEE* in a cocktail dress long before Jennifer "Sidney Bristow" Gardner did it.
Carmen is more Alias than Tomb Raider.

Agreed.Ryan wrote:I don't think U2K was perfect, but I DO think it was the best thing Valiant put out after 1995.
I think part of the reason U2K seemed liked a DC/Marvel comic or whatever was that Shooter was parody-ing (if that's a word) the fact that Acclaim/Valiant had become so much like a regular, messy, comic booky universe.
I was enjoying it, even if it seemed a bit overboard.

All you have to do is ask a queston and I'll try my best to answer.
I haven't posted anything lately because I didn't have anything worthwhile to add.
I will say this... I never really liked that Dr. Mirage cover ever since the first time I saw it. But, basically knowing that it was probably never going to be published, I didn't give it a second thought.

Well aside from Mike puking, do you have any info/insight on
the Turok Evolution book TWT?
How did the EB games variant come about?
What were print runs & orders like? Thanks!
For what it's worth, I find it to be an interesting book.

Turok Evolution... bad news.
Here's the deal. Acclaim Entertainment, in order to keep the Turok license, had to publish a comic during each extention of their contract in order to keep the license for video games. The term was coming to an end at the time Turok Evolution (the video game) was about to come out. The comic was published to meet contractual obligations... Period.
Who was the editor on that. Who was soley responsible for that?
James Perham
Turok Evolution( the game not the book) cost the jobs of a number of very good people at Acclaim.
I know of no EB Variant. The sales numbers were strange because the give-aways were high, associated with promoting the game. Direct sales were about 2,500 copies.

Welcome TWT!
It's always nice to have someone from a position of knowledge post on these boards.
Although of course, you realize that your lack of candor regarding your identity means you are obligated to dish mucho dirt (of which you have done precious little), otherwise there is no point to remaining incognito...

Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?
Hey, TWT. Good to see you're still here! One thing I'd wondered about, especially since you were around Acclaim toward the end, was the end of the line following Unity 2000. We've seen solicits for after this, (notably for the Dr. Mirage book) and Quantum & Woody issues were solicited all the way through the following March. I was curious as to what other plans were being made to reestablish Acclaim as a comics company again, and how far those plans had come before the plug was pulled.

I just found another link about this.TimeWillTell wrote:Jim Starlin actually was paid an additional amount not as a bonus, but rather as a settlement to compensate for the late payments.

Looks to me like a confirmation that Starlin's basic page fee was paid in full. About Shooter we have the other links. Btw, about the delays and other trouble, I wonder if Starlin himself contributed.
Don't know if these are appropriate questions, without knowing what you worked on... And anyway, I'm sure it would be hard to remember. But I guess it doesn't hurt to ask - how was it with the corrected art? When Starlin didn't follow the plot, some art pages for issue 1 were tweaked (like I've listed before). Was that done on paper or digitally? Who did it? Was this a factor that delayed publishing? The pages as they were published - is there physical art for that?If you'd like to ask me anything, go ahead. I'll try to answer as best I can, when I can.
