The confidence in that 8.4 condition is admirable. :D

Not an auction, but this is a great example of why Midtown Comics is broken. For a vast number of their items, they have adopted Mile High's pricing model: inflate it to ridiculous heights, and then try to sell it for 50% off. Thing is, most of the time the 50% off is still too high. Plus, their condition is often way off from those advertised.

Harbinger 4 (1991) - Regular price: $78.40

Sale for today only: $39.20.

There's a 9.6 on eBay for $55 and even that is slightly above the average price for such copy according to Greg's price guide.

Wow. Nearly 20 year old thread.

What strange times we find ourselves in, if I may end prepositionally.

Adverbial prepositions give the English language a rare capacity for precise expression.

But still a great place to find out about niche projects! Check out the Kickstarter for Schism.
Without this board, I would have never known.

Sorry, Chiclo and Zephyr, no words in my post over 3 syllables

Another one of these sold. What is the appeal of this 1:20? I guess this was a bargain compared to the last sale. :?

Im guessing scarcity and two Allred fans. I have one but nowhere near NM. The variants I got back then were pretty poor.

As you mentioned….Maybe #15 1:20 is more scarce because it is the last 1:20 variant in this 16 issue Shadowman series. It just seems odd that it is selling for as much as rare key VEI comics.

Usually copies from that seller are high grade (I’ve bought a number of Valiant books from them). Allred is a known artist and there are no CGC 9.8s of that book.

Just when I didn’t think vintage VEI VALIANT VARIANT PRICES could get much lower; a big sale like this occurs ($335.00). I have to say that I do luv that Sean Chen cover art (with the nod to the VH1 Harby #1 cover).

Wow. Over $300?!? That’s nuts. Copies of that have sold over the last 6 months from $30 to $50. It just takes 2 bidders I guess. I do love that cover! Great book.
