Valiant pages on auction sites
Outbid again, but did come closer than usual. Final price with fees was 3120 for two pages from issue 1. Compared to some previous auctions I guess this could even be considered a good price. I wish I had picked up more pages way back when the prices were lower.

Did anyone here win them?
Also a beautiful piece by Don Perlin.

Final price 288.

Re: Magnus 1 pages on Heritage
Nice, love those. Not a bad price for 2 pages from Magnus 1. Could be a bit cheaper since they're mostly just talking. I bet pages with robot smashing go for a lot more. Still beautiful pages though.magnusr wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2024 1:20 am Outbid again, but did come closer than usual. Final price with fees was 3120 for two pages from issue 1. Re: Magnus 1 pages on Heritage
I was an early bidder but let it go yesterday as they kept climbing and I had my eyes on some other goodies that I wanted more.

Nothing off of Heritage. I've got an auction ending tonight on Mycomicshop and there are several items I've committed to from individual sellers this week and didnt want to obilgate myself too much.

Re: Magnus 1 pages on Heritage
Awesome pages!! Doesn’t seem crazy compared to prices for other items these days.
Re: Magnus 1 pages on Heritage
Well, here's one single robot smashing page from issue 2 that sold for more than those two pages together.
Why, oh why, didn't I buy more when the prices were still reasonable?
https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comi ... ots-101116
Issue 2, page 2 sold for 4400 plus premium (5280).
I also had my eyes on some Gold Key art that also went high. Especially a painted cover for 20.400.

Beautiful page! Nice big shot of Magnus and some robot/wall kicking action. And signed by all 3 of the creators. Hope it went to a good home.magnusr wrote: Mon Jun 24, 2024 7:53 amWell, here's one single robot smashing page from issue 2 that sold for more than those two pages together.

I kick myself for that sometimes as well, but I now focus on more quality newer art. I hope it increases in kind.magnusr wrote: Mon Jun 24, 2024 7:53 amWell, here's one single robot smashing page from issue 2 that sold for more than those two pages together.

Re: Valiant pages on auction sites
There were some Valiant pages in yesterday's Heritage auction.
One Ernie Colon Magnus page that I think went for a fair price (480+bp), except that Magnus was not on it:
https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comi ... ids-101116
Two Bad Eggs pages that went surprisingly cheap (30+bp):

Awesome Colon page. Too bad no one seems to be able to make nice collections of Magnus 1-20. Some real masterpieces in there.magnusr wrote: Thu Sep 26, 2024 1:16 pm There were some Valiant pages in yesterday's Heritage auction.

I thought this was interesting, but postage to Sweden was unbelievably costly. If the winner is here, please let us know if it says anything more interesting that is not shown in the listing.

Cool, I love that pre-Valiant era. Not sure I'd have paid $45, but it would be cool to have a copy of the Shooter/Layton Harby 1 cover and some black & white Manning Magnus.magnusr wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 2:20 am I thought this was interesting, but postage to Sweden was unbelievably costly. Re: Valiant pages on auction sites
Totally agree. I'm already starting to regret I didn't bid, but with shipping and customs I think it would have been around $150 and I just couldn't justify that. Anyway, hopefully it went to someone here.Ryan wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 9:01 am Cool, I love that pre-Valiant era. Yup. That's exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for to put in the Secrets of the Valiant Universe fanzine. Haven't had time to work on it lately, but lmk if you see more like this.magnusr wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 9:05 amTotally agree. I'd be willing to split costs just or something so I can get good scans and make them more widely available for preservation and appreciation.
