I haven’t read those early Archer & Armstrong issues in quite some time, but to my vague recollection the 3 Anni-Padda brothers all gained their powers by unleashing its power.

I can’t recall exactly what the Boon’s origin itself was - but it was basically like an obelisk of unknown (likely alien) origin that they found. I believe that when it released a wave of energy, the blast stretched across the globe and it killed everyone in its wake - or at least as far as human civilization had expanded to in Mesopotamian times.

Armstrong & Gilad’s immortality was thus a result of absorbing the life force of everyone that died, I think… although i recall later stories created some different details about Gilad and his immortality as well. It was certainly set up to suggest that there was a form of a reset to the planet or at least to the human race at that point, but I can’t recall if it was fleshed out any further than that. Could be that this thing was also linked to triggering some people to be capable of developing “psiot” powers from then on too.

It is in the same vein as a kind of origin like the White Event for the New U anyways, and/or the Seleski/Solar origins of VH1. Even if it doesn’t cover all of the other strange variables that begin to appear in the VEI universe.

I do love the Seleski/Solar origin to VH1, it’s a really clever and fun idea. But I also don’t think that an entire universe needs an all encompassing single origin to explain anything strange within it.

The New Universe was a bit of an exception as the primary reason why anyone became “paranormal” was from the energies of the White Event itself - and everything else about that world was meant to be just like our real world. In theory anyway.
Cool. Is that from the comic with the origin of the first Geomancer that had a limited run, something like that? Her name was Anni or Padda or something like that, no?
No, I think it was initially in Archer & Armstrong #0? I can’t recall too many details about that Legends Of The Geomancer series as it’s been a long time since I last read it (I did get the set back in the day). I think you’re right that first Geomancer’s name might have been Anni & she gave birth to the boys with her partner Padda or something like that. But I think the Boon itself has a separate origin story than the Geomancers. I could be wrong.

Cool. Wasn't The Boon also the name of the plant that made the Anni-Padda immortal in VH 2? Shooter had an idea for how he was going to link the origin of the immortals and Harbingers after Unity. I think that's in the solicits for those issues found on the main site.

Sorry, my knowledge of VH2 era is very limited - I only picked up a few issues of Bloodshot & XO at the time, and have never gone back to fill it in.
