This seller is putting some fire books out there. I need to keep an eye out for his listings. He sold some of those rare late ninjak books and Shadowman 13.

Who did you have sign it? I don’t even know the creative team on the book?!? I think that’s cool you got it signed.nycjadie wrote:I had one signed a few years ago. Makes me wish I hadn’t……

When you say you regret having it signed…. I am assuming it was just signed raw and not “signed and graded CGCSS.” Would you regret it being CGC Signature Series? I know some collectors like their books unsigned with high CGC grade.nycjadie wrote: Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:06 pm I had one signed a few years ago. Makes me wish I hadn’t……
I, on the other hand, enjoy having the uniqueness, or customization, of some CGCSS books. But, it is all about the book for me (signed or unsigned). To each his own.

I mean, I think I have only the one copy and I believe Eisma and Fawkes signed it. It’s raw. I still like it, but the OCD in me wants a full unsigned set of books, and if I can get an extra signed, then that’s great. SS books are a novelty to me. I don’t dislike them, but I will get them when they are inexpensive:

I bet this is Hunter Gorinson through a comic dealer. Atom! told me at NYCC last year that Hunter was secretly selling Valiant comics on eBay after he was fired from Valiant. Dinesh and Warren Simons found out at Bad Idea and forced him to stop because executives should never sell books they worked on etc but Atom! said he didn't stop he just did it through a comic shop who had an ebay account and Dinesh and Warren didn't know.

Re: A&A 1 % gold tint eBay strong sell (imo)
I bought the black and white Unity #5 Suayan 1:100 from this EBay seller for $100. I just received and it seems to be in true NM condition. It was pricey for a raw (unknown condition) book. When asking about comic condition the seller just says he doesn’t guarantee any grade , but feels that NM would grade 9.2 or higher. But, the comic looks good and I’ve been looking for a long time to get this one. I’m pretty sure aj583 and nycjadie both have small stacks hoarded limiting supply
. Lol.
Does anyone know how many Unity #5 1:100s were printed? This is one of those that may truly be limited….or there may be stacks hoarded around somewhere…. after all, I believe it was a Linewide Variant.

Estimated Comichron Calculated Method = 118
Actual print runs usually seemed to be rounded up, so a good guess would be 125-150 printed.
I’d love to have a small hoard of this Unity #5!

Congrats to you Juki. Great find if it is NM. A true VEI rarity and one of my favorites!

Wow…Unity #5 1:100 is not a LineWide Variant? I had assumed and had put this Unity 5 1:100 in about the same print range as other Line Variants such as the Harbinger 8 Lemier 1:125 LW (which had about 400-500 printed , with possible destruction of overprint).aj583 wrote: Wed Oct 04, 2023 6:42 amThis was not a linewide variant.Juki wrote: I’m pretty sure aj583 and nycjadie both have small stacks hoarded limiting supply. I’d love to have a small hoard of this Unity #5!I was elated when I finally found this book after years of searching. I only got one as I was able to trade for it with a former VEI employee.

I can’t think of any other “regular comic” ratios that were 1:100, or more, without being Line Variants (excluding the novelties such as metal covers, glass covers, most variant covers, etc.). Can you think of any others?

Those initial Unity books were 1:100. Numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5. I also think there were some mini series that had the 1:100 like The Valiant and 4001 AD.
