Single Issue Reprints

Post by ManofTheAtom »

Over the decades, DC and Marvel have reprinted key single issues of their multiple tiles.

For instance, one such reprint series from Marvel was called "Marvel Milestone Edition"...

There are a ton more, but I won't post them.

Anyway, the point would be, what would a line of single issue reprints of VALIANT comics be called, and which issues should they reprint?

Funny story, with the way the paper that got picked for this, including the coupon and how it all came out, we almost made it TOO good and realistic to the 90s one. Almost did an accident bootlegging!!

Just got a copy of Absolute Batman: Year One. It's such a nice production to see the original version preserved as well as the later version and all the extras like the full script and pencils/thumbnails.

Made me wonder, what Valiant comics would it be cool to see get the Absolute treatment? From Classic 90's Valiant I would love to see:

Harbinger 1-6 - Would be so great to see the originals restored (no recoloring) in an oversized format with extras like reproductions of the original art, concept sketches, early ads, scripts, interviews with Shooter and Lapham, etc.

X-O 1-6 - Same as Harb.

Rai 0 - an Absolute style single issue that would present an oversized restored original version of Rai 0 with all existing original art, alternate versions, scripts, notes, in depth interviews, etc. Could be 100 pages or more depending on how much relevant material can be found.

Archer & Armstrong 0-12 - Same as Harb.

Shadowman 8, 10-16. The early post-Unity Shadowman is classic.

Obviously if a reprint agreement could be reached with DreamWorks Classics, Absolute style versions of Solar 1-10, Alpha and Omega, Magnus 1-8, and Unity would be huge.

Anyone else have things they'd like to see in Absolute style editions from VH1, VH2, or VEI?

It would have to be Absolute Unity for sure.

What about doing Compendiums like the Milestone Compendiums? I think they could fit all of Pre-Unity + Unity into two volumes. I wonder if they could reprint Solar and Magnus if they took off the logo dress from the covers? Maybe it's not that easy. :?

Some of your favorite Milestone comics from the 90’s are collected together in this brilliant compendium edition featuring tales from Dwayne McDuffie and Bob Smith and stunning art from Denys Cowan and M.D. Bright!

Milestone Compendium collects Blood Syndicate #1-12; Hardware #1-12; Icon #1-10; Static #1-8; Xombi #0-11; Shadow Cabinet #0

Well, they're doing the new trades, like Eternal Warrior. I just think there would be value in doing something like 99 cent single issue reprints too.

Sure, but considering the Harbinger 1 facsimile was $10, I don't see it happening.

Ouch.
I'm all for it though, I love the single issue reprints. It would make a lot more sense if the old comics were still relevant to the canon, however.

The other hurdle is the GK3. Single issue, Absolutes, Compendiums of VH1 would all have a major hole without Solar and Magnus.
