“We were talking to, uh… Jim Shooter, yeah, that’s the ticket - and he’s high-ranking at Valiant, you see, and he said there was a sting with these, uh, counterfeit? Yeah, counterfeit Valiant books. Solar 1, the purple ones. Tell all your friends but don’t mention our store name.”SwiftMann wrote: Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:54 pmMaybe the shop is just messing with him. "What nonsense can we come up with this week?"daniellew61 wrote: Sat Aug 12, 2023 3:48 pm But no one is talking to your LCS from Valiant. Or Alien.
Which is where the lie is.
If the store is saying it's true, and swearing it, they are the ones getting lied to - and we need to fix that.
You as a fan even should be worried someone is catfishing, and it should be checked out, - which is what someone else also said to you in one of these threads.
Also, why wouldn't you want me to know who they are? then they can actually be reached out to, and actually told some information ahead of time before it breaks, which is what we do. Also, my promos list and stuff.
So...

We got a whole bunch of negative Nancy's in this thread. Why is everyone so certain that these are lies? I mean they may be; that's a huge possibility, but I don't see why it's necessary to be an *SQUEE* to the guy that's simply sharing what he's been told.

The only thing objective is that DMG stole a bunch of people's money on kickstarter for seemingly no reason and won't even acknowledge it. Why a bunch of people on here want to go to bat for them is weird.leonmallett wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 2:32 pmIn fairness, I think he has objectively been an *SQUEE* towards Danielle.TheFerg714 wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 2:21 pm We got a whole bunch of negative Nancy's in this thread. Bro, he doesn't have corroborating evidence, and he's admitted as much. He's simply sharing what he's heard. It's essentially rumors, and he has made that abundantly clear. You don't have to believe them (hell, I don't, I'm just open to any rumor at this point), but imo, he hasn't said anything too awful to anyone.slack wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 3:20 pm

Well, he was told by insiders at this forum that it was a lie. All of his three rumors are untrue.

Calling out syzhang28's disrespectful behaviour is its own thing DMG's disrespectful treatment of we backers is another. Both can be true at the same time, whataboutism doesn't wash.

whataboutism is a stretch dude. DMG/Valiant has shown total disrespect by not honoring the kickstarter even though they're run by a billionaire. syzhang isn't happy at DMG/Valiant because of this and other reasons. DMG reps come on the board without acknowledging any of this, syzhang asks polite but pointed questions, some posters feel offendend.leonmallett wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 12:25 pmHi Ryan, you are massively conflating unrelated issues there.Ryan wrote: Sun Aug 13, 2023 3:26 pmThe only thing objective is that DMG stole a bunch of people's money on kickstarter for seemingly no reason and won't even acknowledge it. I'm seeing a direct correlation between the kickstarter and other poor ways DMG/Valiant has treated the fans and the pointed questions that syzhang asked.
Still waiting to see examples the blatant disrespect and arsehole behavior that others are describing. I think some people are mistaking anything that isn't sycophantic behavior with disrespect.

Isn't that like conflating Acclaim Entertainment with Acclaim Comics?
One owned the other and was responsible for making the decisions.
From what I've read, DMG is at fault for the Kickstarter, not VALIANT Entertainment.

My understanding is Valiant Entertainment is a subsidiary of DMG Entertainment. That tracks with publicly available information.

Is the argument that because Valiant Entertainment is now licensing out their comic book production to Alien Books that they're no longer owned by DMG?
Or that the people who run DMG are no longer involved with anything to do with Valiant Entertainment?
Neither of those sound true to me, correct me if I'm wrong.

No, the argument would be that VALIANT Entertainment is subservient to DMG, and not responsible for all the decisions that their parent company makes.Ryan wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:03 pm Is the argument that because Valiant Entertainment is now licensing out their comic book production to Alien Books that they're no longer owned by DMG?

From what I've read people say on Facebook, the Kickstarter was DMG's idea, not VALIANT Entertainment's. So why would the latter be responsible for the former's failure?
It's sort of like blaming Acclaim Comics for Acclaim Entertainment's failure to deliver the Bloodshot and HARD Corps video games back in the day.

I'm sure some, if not many or all other decisions concerning comics came from VALIANT, but this one came from DMG. Same for the NFTs.
Thats is the reason I've seen cited for why the KS hasn't been fulfilled.
Maybe it's wrong, maybe not. But if it's right, then VALIANT is not to blame for it.

But I'm not privvy to the inner workings. Just a fan. But logic tells me Valiant has been running at a loss for many years, and that's someone's money (guess- DMG's money). And I find it hard to believe that whoever has been footing the bill for everything suddenly has no say in what goes on, or that there's separate entities deciding some things but not others.
Like ok if Mintz/DMG only makes some of the decisions (NFT, not fulfilling the Kickstarter), then who is the person at Valiant making the other decisions?
Not looking to be disrespectful to anyone.

Re: Yet another Alien rumor
DMG makes decisions for Valiant since they pushed Dinesh out (who was making decisions for Valiant before DMG). They have been running Valiant for 5 years. Danielle want to clear this part up and confirm or refute?
DMG might have had the idea to do a kickstarter in the same way Disney has an idea to do a Indiana Jones movie for Lucasfilm.
If that movie sucks, it's both Disney and Lucasfilm's fault. You can't give Lucasfilm a pass.
If they sell tickets to that movie and then don't release it or give people their money back then it's also both their faults. You can't give Lucasfilm a pass because they were following orders. If the company you work at is stealing and not addressing the issue or lying about it then you either are on board with that or you quit.
I won't ask the ex-Valiant employees here again where the kickstarter is or what happened to all the NFT promises or why the comics keep being delayed or canceled. I've asked a few times and they always ignore and claim I'm being disrespectful for even asking where everyone's money is.

When did it change?ManofTheAtom wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:11 pmNo, the argument would be that VALIANT Entertainment is subservient to DMG, and not responsible for all the decisions that their parent company makes.Ryan wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:03 pm Is the argument that because Valiant Entertainment is now licensing out their comic book production to Alien Books that they're no longer owned by DMG?
Or that the people who run DMG are no longer involved with anything to do with Valiant Entertainment?
Neither of those sound true to me, correct me if I'm wrong.

Mintz clearly still owns it, but that doesn't make him responsible for every single decision that takes place there, anymore that Acclaim was responsible for VH 2. That was entirely Nicieza's idea.

Those employees make decisions for the comic book division, such as who to hire and what comics to publish.Ryan wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:41 pmThey're employees. Are the employees making decisions that are separate from the employers now?ManofTheAtom wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:39 pm Likely those named as staff in the editorial page at the end of each issue.
That doesn't mean DMG can't come in and decide to launch an Eternal Warrior KS, with or without their support or approval since it owns VALIANT.
It may have been a graphic novel, but that doesn't make it different from Acclaim turning Turok into a video game.

Daniel Mintz is also in the credits of the Valiant comics. Right at the top. Where Dinesh and Peter Cuneo used to be. That's an indicator that he makes decisions. All employees have a choice to follow orders from their boss or not. If they choose not to they are fired or they leave. People leave companies all the time because the company starts making morally bad decisions. Also, if you don't agree say that. Or at least provide some answer while you're on a fan message board posting about other things. When you start to ignore those questions but promote the new comic coming out next month you're a tool of the bad decisions like taking money and not delivering the kickstarter whether you want to admit it or not.Ryan wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:41 pmThey're employees. Re: Yet another Alien rumor
But Disney didn't make the movie, Lucasfilm did.syzhang28 wrote: Mon Aug 14, 2023 1:42 pm DMG makes decisions for Valiant since they pushed Dinesh out (who was making decisions for Valiant before DMG).
A more accurate comparison would be Marvel Entertainment having Jeph Loeb at Marvel Television make TV series spun-off from the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Agents of SHIELD and Inhumans without the approval or involvement of Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios.
