Are the Valiant Movies Dead?
I took quite a bit of time off from Valiant when my daughter was born 3.5 years ago, and just starting to catch up again. At that time, there was so much talk about movies, TV shows, stuff in the works, etc. Bloodshot would come first, followed by Harbingers, leading up to a Harbinger Wars movie. There was also a Faith movie in the works, a Doctor Mirage show, Quantum & Woody show, etc.
Since then, we got the Bloodshot movie, which sadly flopped due to the Pandemic. I actually liked the movie. It wasn't amazing, but it was ok. If anything, it played it too safe, making it too much of a stand alone thing that could be a one shot generic sci-fi action flick. I would have loved to see cameos or other characters introduced (not as their superhero alter ego) to set up future films. I feel that's one thing Marvel has done really well, where each movie is contained by yet sets the footsteps for future movies and characters, building continuity.
But other than the one movie, nothing else seems to have materialized, and finding any info on what else is going on, if anything, is difficult. I really hope they go forward, and maybe a re-boot. I understand why Bloodshot came first, but personally I think taking a page from Marvel's playbook of starting with other characters that connect to several other characters might have been a better choice, or a character that is more "unique". Eternal Warrior, Doctor Mirage, or Shadowman may have been a better option, all for different reasons. Shadowman you could play a horror vibe, Doctor Mirage could go several routes like a paranormal mystery, horror, etc, and the Eternal Warrior gives you a whole history playground to play in. Or if you want to tap into the Cosmic superhero trend currently, doing a Divinity movie where you blend his origin into some of the original VH1 Solar story where Divinity unintentionally creates/re-creates the world where now people with "abilities" exists could be an interesting superhero origins flick.
Just wondering though if anyone has any news on anything happening, or is it pretty much just all dead now that DMG took over and Bloodshot flopped?

Doctor Mirage wasn’t real, it never was. That was used to find a leak at VEI at the time. Who was telling “media” stuff like this was and is still a thing.
Harbinger has a script and is now at Paramount and they have a modest budget of like $50 Million. It’s not connected to BS now and is really a shell of the script it should have been.

Re: Are the Valiant Movies Dead?
I don’t remember anything about a rumored Doctor Mirage movie. I thought there were rumors of made for t.v. streaming episodes of A&A or Dr. Mirage. There never really seemed much to this though. Is that the false rumors to which you refer? Or was Valiant really actively trying to get something streaming with Netflix/Amazon? Regardless… this all seems dead now.betterthanezra wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 7:50:45 pm Doctor Mirage wasn’t real, it never was. That was used to find a leak at VEI at the time. There really doesn’t seem to be anything film-wise going on with Valiant. It would be nice just to get some good solid comics going.

The Mirage thing was a proposed CW television show, not film.

And I remember hearing the Russo brothers were going to make the Q&W show.

Re: Are the Valiant Movies Dead?
That's unfortunate. I thought there was supposedly a "Faith" movie in the works also....Not like that one would be overly interesting to me unless it had some type of connection to a larger Valiant cinematic universe.betterthanezra wrote: ↑Fri Feb 04, 2022 7:50:45 pm Doctor Mirage wasn’t real, it never was. While not surprising, sounds like everything basically was dropped, and they are pulling an early Marvel where each movie is self-contained with no great universe planned. That's unfortunate and a major reason comic book movies were meh to bad prior to Iron Man launched the MCU. That inter-connectivity (in addition to good writing and acting) is what made MCU successful.

Timely topic as o just saw Key Collector Comics just posted, “Deadline reports Maze stunner filmmaker Wes Ball is attached to direct Paramount Pictures’ adaptation of Valiant’s Harbinger”

Re: Are the Valiant Movies Dead?
Does Wes Ball have “the right stuff?” to be a good director for this Harbinger movie? He is an up and coming young (41y.o.) director that did well with Maze Runner.
I guess my questions would be “Was he a fan of VH1 when he was a kid?” And, “Is he a VEI fan?” I think it would be desirable for the director to be familiar with Valiant and not just read a few comics right before making the movie.
I watched a few you tube video clips of him directing Maze Runner. He does seem very passionate and energetic.

Andrew Lanham is also the script writer, and he co-wrote Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which i enjoyed. It had the father/Son dynamic which would fit with Harbinger, so i'm quietly confident that it's heading the right direction. Hopefully the process doesn't stall or die in the meantime.Juki wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 6:24:44 pmDoes Wes Ball have “the right stuff?” to be a good director for this Harbinger movie? Re: Are the Valiant Movies Dead?
I just worry that there will not be anybody on the set to keep the producer and director true to the characters and the story. We really need a movie out that sparks some interest in ALL of the comics and that is not considered a total flop. In my opinion, the first Valiant Bloodshot movie was enjoyable and a good attempt to launch. It could have been better… but, it could have been a lot worse. Due to COVID shutting things down, I think a lot of people saw it at home and we’re asking “Is this Marvel or D.C.?”…and that helps get the Valiant name out there. I’m not looking for a second blockbuster movie… just something to get Valiant out of this inertia, and into a positive light to begin moving forward again. Is there gonna be anyone from Valiant comics there (other than Dan Mintz) to help keep the story and the characters from getting railroaded into something that they are not? I hope that Dan Mintz sees the error of his ways in splitting up the rights of the characters between Sony and Paramount (and wants to keep things from going off the rails with Harbinger as it may be the last chance for something positive in the cinemas for an interconnected Valiant). Bloodshot, at Sony, had/has Dinesh in that role as watchdog. But, Bloodshot is out there on its own, at Sony, with little chance of eventually launching future movies for other great characters (Shadowman, X-O, etc.). The cinematic future of all these OTHER Valiant IPs will hinge on this Paramount Harbinger movie not being a complete failure. The Chosen 1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 8:34:13 pmAndrew Lanham is also the script writer, and he co-wrote Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which i enjoyed. If Bloodshot does happen again, hopefully they will try a Bloodshot 2 that goes with more of the “comic book hero/antihero look and feel”(and the R rating that goes with that). And, get Wiggins and K.T. Back (as I think they were positive characters).
Should the Harbinger movie be PG-13? I believe so…. but maybe they should go the R route and see what happens? Is this movie gonna be geared towards kids or adults?
Re: Are the Valiant Movies Dead?
Saw Bloodshot, it was just ok for me. I was hoping for a better villain.

Harbinger won’t be rated R
Look The Batman was gritty and dark and brutal at times and was still PG-13 we all need to be less worried about the eating and just hope they make a great movie.

I thought that didn’t need to be said. Valiant movies are all hat and no cattle. Unless something changes - in the unlikely event a movie does get made, it won’t be something worth seeing.mramsterdam wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 2:15:31 am How long till someone says this is false news and not happening?

Is Arby’s widely unliked? When we are in Amarillo, if we get fast food, it will either be Taco Villa or Arby’s. I like Arby’s. We are even getting one here in town.
