Toughest CGC 9.8 Valiant Books (Pre Unity)
Been thinking of building a 9.8 Pre Unity Set. And having decent luck getting my personal copies graded so far. Curious from those who have been at this much longer than I have, what are the toughest books to get? Solar 10 seems to be the easy answer.

I am assuming you mean "get 9.8s graded yourself" versus "buy 9.8s already graded".
Along with Solar 10, Harbinger 1 is at nearly the same level in general, although they may be ignoring some things they used to consider on that book given the recent history.
Past that you are at things like the Vintage Magnus series. Harbinger 6 can be tough. Rai 5, Magnus 5 also have their problems.

Yes, I'd like to get the majority done myself if I can. Harbinger 6 and Rai 5 I imagine due to the black covers? Didn't even think about Vintage Magnus but makes sense as they didn't have the value upon initial release to be protected as a lot of the other books did.

Agree with CKB.
Harbinger 1, Solar 10, Solar 10 2nd Print
Harbinger 6 was tough for me. 6 and 7 went a bit crazy price wise for a time.
Magnus 5 is really hard as many had a thin cover stock and wrinkle.
Still, there aren't any you can’t buy or get graded. Pre-Unity anyway.

Thanks. I was lucky and got Harbinger 1 on my first submission to CGC. I'll keep sending books from the personal collection and pick up the ones I can't get on my own. Solar 10 I have 3 copies that look amazing but some minor, I guess scuffing is the best word, on the back cover, doesn't seem worth the effort to even try those.

I did buy one off the shelf in LA with 2 other solar 10 first print from long ago. I sent them off and i did get a 9.8 and a 9.4 and a 9.0. they are out there.

I would say Vintage Magnus #1-4, Archer and Armstrong Gold #0, and Magnus #11.

The Vintage books sucked. Took forever to find them.maraxusofkeld wrote: Fri Dec 02, 2022 1:34 pm I would say Vintage Magnus #1-4, Archer and Armstrong Gold #0, and Magnus #11.
