Don't want to be negative. Its great that so many retailers are doing so many covers and variants.
Just have a bad feeling, looks like half the print run will be shop incentives.

Really hope I am wrong, and this book smashes it out of the park. Looking forward to it, but I think the days of multiple covers, each with virgin / black and white etc are over. Hopefully I am wrong.

I’m with you. I wish I could get excited about this book, but I’m guessing that the incentives are tied to the 1:250 books. You put out an incentive, and you get the high variant.

It drives down the value of the variant. I’m told that the run in these are not returnable, as they have been in the past. Hence, the proliferation of store variants.

I’ve purchased many of these in the last, and I like some of these covers, but I haven’t chased any of these.

Why? I guess because Valiant made the chase so much less interesting.

For those interested, we have an Iron Maiden homage variant by Paul Pelletier going live tomorrow, attached to a Kickstarter campaign for a new album. (There will also be some new Valiant-based music news.)

We opted for a high print run on the modern/main cover, so that we can put a copy into as many fans' hands as possible. We went for a much lower print run on the virgin and VH1 throwback trade dress variants (50 of each), but decoupled them from the high dollar reward tiers. That means anyone can back the campaign and add on the variants immediately without having to buy the album this time. (Although you will have to back a higher tier to get the modern variant if you want a complete set.)

The campaign goes live at 10am EST on Wednesday. I'll post the covers and a link here then.

When a book has 41 different covers I guess Valiant can get away with only publishing 2 issues a month.

Same here. I have ordered 5 of the 41 covers. I might do some more but feel 41 is just greedy. If they did maybe 10-12 covers for a #1 issue the OCD in me would kick in and I would try and get them all but it has gone crazy and even the non-number 1 issues have multiple retail variants.

I am just trying to build my list of what exists. It would be wonderful if somehow collectively would could make a list of all retailer/convention covers for VEI as they are not on the VEI site and while the valiant database is great it doesn't have all of them (but has quite a few).

Lovely! I am still highly tempted to pick up all of her variants for the series - loving them all so far. I just haven’t committed to it as I’ve long since stopped buying almost any variant covers from any publishers. The only rare exceptions have been for a couple of Immortal Hulk issues, and the current Grendel: Odyssey mini-series.

AND, I did actually order Jenny Frisson’s variant cover for the 3rd issue of BZRKR from my LCS…

Note I am not 100% sure that Unknown cover #4 Virgin and #4 Virgin Megacon are different books as Unknown comics sells the Virgin megacon but not the #4 virgin set individually so am unclear if megacon is stamped on one cover and the other cover does not have it or if they are actually the same book. If anyone knows that would be helpful.

Thanks. I missed that distinction. There store is not so clear as the first picture for the 4 pack is the image of the 4-in-1. Appreciate you clearing this up. You are much more on top of all this than me.

I still would like to build a database of every retailer/convention exclusive as this doesn't seem to exist anywhere. The Valiant Database has some but is missing many.
