Exclusive Variants update for Savage #1, XO #4 & SM #1
It's that time again!
X-O MANOWAR (Vol. 5) #4

SAVAGE (Vol. 2) #1

Finally...
SHADOWMAN (Vol. 6) #1
Bulletproof Comics Exclusive by Damion Scott -- reg & virgin
Looking pretty good....

X-O MANOWAR (Vol. 5) #4
- The 616 Comics Exclusive by Meghan Hetrick (not the best homage cover to be honest) -- reg, virgin, virgin/bw
- Circle City Comics Exclusive by Stuart Sayger (similar to his cover for the debut issue; this one's slightly better) -- reg, virgin
- Unknown Comics Exclusive by Ryan Browne (nice homage to Tales of Suspense #39) -- reg only

SAVAGE (Vol. 2) #1
- Bulletproof Comics Exclusive by Joshua Swaby
- Exchange Collectibles Exclusive by Jimbo Salgado -- probably 2-3 versions as usual
- LemonJuice Comics Exclusive by Redacted Artist
- One Stop Comics Exclusive by Johnny Desjardins -- reg & virgin/blank combo!

Finally...
SHADOWMAN (Vol. 6) #1
Bulletproof Comics Exclusive by Damion Scott -- reg & virgin
Looking pretty good....

Re: Exclusive Variants update for Savage #1, XO #4 & SM #1
I can understand retailer exclusives for 1st issues like the Shadowman 1 and Savage 1 above but why X-O Manowar 4? Is there something special about that issue. Seem hard to think the average fan searching out retailers to buy exclusives of mid-issue runs.
Collectively we should work on a list of all the different retailer/convention exclusives. I do not think one exists anywhere.

I think nobody will want these books outside of the most rabid Valiant fans, or fans of the individual stores. I believe they are good advertising for some of them.
Absolutely on tracking a store variant list. They aren’t in the price guide, and I think even at this point it will be difficult to assemble a complete list.

I like to believe my list is 99.9% complete--GK3, VH1, VH2, imprints, DH, *SQUEE*, VEI, DEFIANT, and the *NEW SQUEE*, plus iBooks and VIP.
99.9% minus foreign language releases (although it wouldn't be such a big deal to add those...except for decent pics).

Is this list available anywhere to see? I posted my incentive covers list on the boards here but I do not have a good list of all the retailer/convention covers.Sunlight on Snow wrote: Sat Jan 23, 2021 6:18 amAhem!nycjadie wrote: Fri Jan 22, 2021 8:26 pm Absolutely on tracking a store variant list. I'm still debating with myself whether or not I should do another valiantdatabase.com.magnus20009 wrote: Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:43 pmIs this list available anywhere to see? That would be awesome. I thought of doing the same except I do not know enough of the retailer/convention variants nor do I have the website building skills. That's why I settled with just listing all the incentive covers.Sunlight on Snow wrote: Sat Jan 23, 2021 4:20 pmI'm still debating with myself whether or not I should do another valiantdatabase.com.magnus20009 wrote: Sat Jan 23, 2021 12:43 pmIs this list available anywhere to see? What an amazing checklist that would be. If you can think of a good way to display that info, I can host on my website valiant.fan.

Hosting service is not a problem. I have so much space left it's about time to make use of it.nycjadie wrote: Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:33 am What an amazing checklist that would be. If you can think of a good way to display that info, I can host on my website valiant.fan.

Nice little website by the way. Never seen a website with .fan before.

Clearly Unknown and Bulletproof have had some success with store exclusives, but, really, how often does this work out for the retailers? I know a couple who did non-Valiant early ones and still have 100 or more in their dollar bins because no one cares, even regular customers.
I get the appeal of certain artists, but that's maybe a dozen or so that can move the numbers required for an exclusive.
I just can't believe we are coming up on the 10 year anniversary of Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters #1 being the first to do this big time and it's going stronger than ever. At least in pure numbers of variants.

I don't think they are huge moneymakers, but I think they drive eyeballs and dollars in other ways. It's fun to do, and a badge of honor.SwiftMann wrote: Sun Jan 24, 2021 10:18 am Clearly Unknown and Bulletproof have had some success with store exclusives, but, really, how often does this work out for the retailers? Whenever I visit a store that has them, there are absolutely tons for sure. I tend to see the variants for $4 in stores, and $10+ outside of them. Access is really tough. I've been thinking of getting a network together here to make it easier to access these types of things. I have a bunch of extras and when I sort them, I'd love to trade with others.

They talk about the cover and selling exclusive covers. Quite interesting.
