First Valiant
Back in the 90's, at least in my area, Valiant (Unity and earlier) were hard to find. However I got a Rai 7 where Rai fights mother god and sacrifices himself for the team. Not uncommon in comics. However the cool thing though was he stayed dead (morbid sounding I know) and someone else took up the mantle. All the dying and coming back in comics leads to the stories of death not having much weight. That was one of the first things I noticed about Valiant comics. Well life happens and I get rid of all my comics 20 years ago. I started collecting again last year and went back and started picking the stories and characters I was familiar with. I have already amassed 6 long boxes full of just Valiant comics! The current stuff is well that's another thing altogether but the 90s era and 2012 reboot is straight fire. From Barry Windsor Smith to Mico Suyan and Clayton Crain the art is spectacular. The writing is superb with Jim Shooter, Robert Vendetti, and Matt Kidnt the list goes on and on. People are certainly sleeping on, current management of Valiant included, the value of the characters and the stories that have been told inside the valiant universe.

Re: First Valiant
Welcome to the board!
I remember having Rai #6 and wishing it was just one, two, or three issues earlier... but I think it was a while before I got a Rai #5 and years before I had #3 and #4.

Re: First Valiant
Back in the day that early stuff, at least for me, was so out of my price range and there were no shops in my area that carried pre unity valiant much.

Re: First Valiant
i've mentioned this before....i got all the early ones as they came out from Mrs. Shooter (aka Elephant believe it or not). it was the best of times for a new comic company but all burned down shortly after it started
