That sucks. There really seems to be no good news in 2020. I wish him the best in his recovery

This is tragic. We are all getting older. I'm so sorry for you doodlebird and your family. I certainly wish you the fullest recovery possible.

There will be some ebay sales here coming up this weekend (Sunday - Sunday), if I can remember, I will post them here. Thinking Greg walked away with a prize the other day, such a great pick-up on that X-O #25 variant! Think a simple cleaning/press makes that book a 9.8!

Sad to read this news about Scott and I am keeping him and his family in my thoughts and prayers. I know Scott is a passionate CGC Signature Series collector and I am anxious to help out with a purchase or two. Scott, I hope you have a full recovery.

On a side note, Scott’s situation has caused me to think about my own comic collection and what is my plan should something happen to me. :hm:

My book arrived today - Alexandra did a fantastic job with shipping - exactly what you want to see for a CGC book - lots of bubble wrap and boxed Priority Mail.

Happy to have won two items and to help out Scott in yesterday's auctions:

The Unity #1 Bloodshot Sketch Cover CGC 9.6 Signature Series by Bob Hall

Harbinger/X-O Manowar Custom Art by Clayton Crain

Can someone help explain my options to get the Crain art book slabbed? I don't want to make the same mistake I did with CBCS and get a 5.0 grade because an artist wrote their name on the cover with a marker. :!:

Thanks,

Michael

You are the one who stole that from me

Just kidding. Glad you stopped me from spending more money :D :D I got four of the other auctions. Just waiting for combined shipping to pay. Agreed this is for a good cause.

I sent a couple of messages and requested an invoice for combined shipping, but never heard back. I decided to pay the two shipping charges to help out with the medical bills. Four books and shipping for each is a different story.

Thank you, Steve. If I wanted to get the art book graded, what is the best route to take? Or, is it better just to have it framed or leave it in the plastic case? This is my first art purchase. :cloud9:

Thanks,

Michael

I remember when Scott posted the Clayton piece. I could tell Clayton took a lot of joy in making it. It's a beauty!

For sketch covers, my preference is a top loader (and bag and board). You could get a green label, but you know it's not going to come back with a high grade. Plus, I like the way the sketch covers look in a top loader. I do sometimes like a little doodle on an SS label. Those are pretty fun.

My book came in so well wrapped, even got a little “thank you” card for participating. Hope my little bit helped Scott and his family, I know I love my book! Real tough to see Jeff Lemire’s signature, but it’s there (written in black) Image
