New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
https://www.cbr.com/valiant-future-ninj ... unk-mambo/
Not much info other than that, but apparently there are creative teams and completed pages they weren’t allowed to share yet.
Add these 3 titles to Shadowman and Savage, and DMG is at least bringing some of the tent pole titles back into the mix with some of the VEI original concepts.

I have very low expectations, but I'll probably check out the #1's (assuming the comic industry doesn't die by then).

Glad they are developing the properties. I'm behind on my reading, but looking forward to these nonetheless.

Re: New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
I'm very interested that Punk Mambo is getting another series. I didn't think Valiant was all that invested in the character considering how little she appeared under Dinesh and company, but she seems to have a growing profile under DMG.
Manga, comics, who cares? They're pretty much the same thing.

Some people spend their whole lives believing in fairy tales, usually because they don't want to give up the fabulous prizes.

Re: New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
Ninjak takes on a whole new look in the preview provided by Valiant -- which consists of rough layouts, rather than finished pages. There's a slightly more cartoonish feel than previous Ninjak titles, though that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Our first impression of these pages is that the new creative team will breathe a different kind of life into the character, with a fresh take that will draw in new fans as well as old.

More cartoonish feel seems to be the trend of late...

It's probably a more simplified art style, meaning cheaper to produce. Sales are LOW so they can't afford to have the high quality artists they had during the relaunch. Unless they do what other small publishers have started doing and export the art to Latin American and Italian artists. Whether or not editorial will do that is unknown to me.

Armless, they have being using artists from other countries since the re-launch, and I for one was thrilled with that. I never heard of Suayan, Lupacchino, Bernard, Giorello (to name just a few!) before Valiant. They found other great artists to do great work, like Hairsine, Crain, Zircher, Henry, LaRosa.. they were not big names but they are very talented. The style choice is important. Story telling is important. Can’t just have cover artists. You need people who hit deadlines so books come out on time. DMG has a style they like. It is just not one I prefer, so far.

Re: New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
Keep in mind that VEI knew what they were doing. They got in on the ground floor with some of these artists, and now most of them are big Marvel/DC stars. That's what the indies are supposed to be meant for. Give the no-names a shot, so then they can go on to make some real money after making a name for themselves.Ramses818 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 9:03:52 am Armless, they have being using artists from other countries since the re-launch, and I for one was thrilled with that. Some of these artists used to be big names. Trevor Hairsine was working on some major X-books in the early 2000's, Clayton Crain had worked on some very popular books like Ghost Rider and X-Force. Valiant got these guys working again, and now they're bigger stars (and better artists) than they ever were before.

I can agree with that.
Re: New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
Outside of creating her from scratch, making her a fan favorite and carefully managing her appearances so she wasn't put in a position to fail or disappoint.armlessphelan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 2:04:37 pm I'm very interested that Punk Mambo is getting another series. Just my opinion, but I don't want or like cartoony art with any of the Valiant characters, not even Q&W.

Re: New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
This comment just reminds me that Punk Mambo actually was kind of a big deal during the VEI years. She starred in several high-profile arcs, and was the poster-girl for the magic side of the Valiant U for quite a while. Operation: Deadside, Rapture, Bloodshot Salvation, Armstrong and the Vault of Spirits, The Coalition. Am I missing any?syzhang28 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 7:09:36 pmOutside of creating her from scratch, making her a fan favorite and carefully managing her appearances so she wasn't put in a position to fail or disappoint.armlessphelan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 08, 2020 2:04:37 pm I'm very interested that Punk Mambo is getting another series. That Savage preview looks like Dead Drop.
I am, however, excited every time I hear they're bringing Harbinger back up to the front.

Re: New Ninjak, Harbinger and Punk Mambo coming soon
I would want Savage to have serious edgy art and play on the psychological effect of being in the other place had on him now that he's back in the "real" world. But that's just me.
