Congrats, Zero, for being the first to have 2 boxes!
I updated the first post. When this was first listed, I asked the seller about the origin of #23. All he would tell me is below:

Zero, do you mind asking the seller again? Now that the auction is over, maybe he will tell you.I bought it from a guy that now lives in raleigh North Carolina. He worked for upper deck throughout the 1990s he said. He had tons of stuff that was given out at different events but this is the only thing I purchased from him. I rather not give out his name. He did personally get this from Chicago at the convention. I really hate I didn't buy more stuff. Hope this helps

eBay. It wasn't cheap, but a lot cheaper than those I've seen in the past here.

Thanks, I nearly thought I had it for $15, but a sniper came in a t 5 seconds and boost it up! That would have been one of my all time snags!

Re: Upper Deck Pyramid Valiant Era Trading Cards in Wooden B
Here is something that I just picked up to go along with the Pyramid Wooden Box Set. This is the con where the wooden sets were given out.
1993 18th Annual Chicago Comicon Guide. It's a flip-book with the regular cover and a flip Neil Gaiman Sandman cover. Neil Gaiman was the guest of honor so half the guide was devoted to him. The guide has a 1-page ad on Dr. Mirage and various other LCS ads featuring Valiant and Defiant. Note the long box held by Spawn full of X-O Manowar #14.

I picked up #17 a year or two back from a former upper deck employee who had attended. It's in good shape but definitely not pristine. The cards were in terrible shape.

#23 is listed on eBay currently. I’m pondering making an offer.
