XO Manowar Sucks
lol, okay, not really, it's perhaps my favourite Valiant comic
Moving on though - I've only ever read the first issue of VH1 XO Manowar, but I've heard that the series is good up to a point, and then it really sucks. My question is: At what point does the series take a nosedive, and why? What is it about it that suddenly starts stinking the place up?

I read it in the classic omnibus, and was left wanting to read more and struggled to enjoy the 2012 run for quite a few issues because it wasn't VH1. I haven't gotten around to tracking down the floppies, but you can't go wrong with the omnibus.Shadowman99 wrote:lol, okay, not really, it's perhaps my favourite Valiant comic

I'm sure I've read on the forum before though that there was a drop in quality at some point though, so can anyone who has any thoughts on that chip in?

It's good for about 10 issues then it takes a pretty steep fall. I recommend skipping it and reading 2012 X-O Manowar which is a really amazing story, especially if you read all 50 issues and watch how carefully they track his character arc. Also recommend the new 2017 series which is fantastic!!

Starting around the Birthquake issues, I think there were more pages than words.

Along this same line, how was the Acclaim version of XO for any that read it?

imo meh...
not saying all Ack-lame work was, well, lame but X-O was not one of the better items.

Pretty much didn't like the Acclaim X-O series and don't have a single floppy of that run.

I'll say this for it: I very much enjoyed the Bart Sears / Andy Smith artwork and the computer coloring.Zhuge1 wrote:Along this same line, how was the Acclaim version of XO for any that read it?

Re: XO Manowar Sucks
I think I have most of the acclaim run and I’ve never bothered to look at anything beyoung the quantum and woody run. No wait I take that back.. I glanced at the the archer and Armstrong/eternal warrior and solar stuff but I don’t know if if I even read through it.David_Cody wrote:Pretty much didn't like the Acclaim X-O series and don't have a single floppy of that run.
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

Re: XO Manowar Sucks
Same here. I quit reading XO back in the day after reading 28. I did really like it up to that point though - some fairly solid issues with good art & stories up to that. In recent years I have gone back and found & read a few more issues into the 30’s that weren’t as bad as I was expecting, but it lost me again around the whole Birthquake debacle.jmatt wrote:That's my breaking point as well.
