Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released in
I guess this probably will be an end to Joshua's run. Also i think this info might have been released by DMG to do damage control by taking credit for this..Because Dinesh wouldn't have released this info this early..

Re: Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released
Early 2019...
I love Valiant but, nothing ever comes out of their events, meaning...
No LiveWire solo....
No Harbinger ongoing...
No Secret Weapons ongoing...
And, if these books are in the works, for the fall of 2018, why not press release those books...
Psi-Lords.... 20??
Of course I’m gonna buy The Life and Death of Harada, at some point, next year.

But yeah, about that whole “other than war” thing — the powers that be don’t exactly cotton to a metahuman with a message of global economic revolution, and it looks like the war has come to him. Starting in early 2019, Valiant will release a six-part mini-series entitled The Life and Death of Toyo Harada, in which the title character heads into a titanic battle against many of the world’s governments while the reader gets clues about his past. It will be written by longtime Harada storyteller Joshua Dysart, with sequences set in the present day drawn by CAFU; flashbacks drawn by a rotating cast of artists including Lewis LaRosa, Adam Pollina, and Mico Suayan; and cover artwork by Butch Guice with Diego Rodriguez.

Re: Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released
1. Why do we have to wait until 2019?
2. Why do they have to keep saying that something is accessible. That's become a bad word in my book. I get that people need to be able to pick up a book and enjoy it. but Most of the fun of comics comes from the history of a character. I'm not saying it shouldn't be accessible... just stop throwing that word around like you're awesome for making it accessible. If you put out an awesome storyline and people talk about it like it's an awesome storyline... people are going to pick up everything so that they can enjoy said awesome storyline. Right?
3. I hope DMG does one thing right and has the IMPERIUM Deluxe edition hardcover come out the month before this series starts...again, because if this is a 6 issue accessible series, it'll warrant its own hardcover deluxe treatment.
I'm being the pessimist here, only because... 2019... that's...so... far... away...More Dysart Now.

Re: Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released
It's about as accessible as any final arc of a geopolitical sci-fi comic book. That is to say, not at all.
I'm sure Dysart does a great job of recapping the events that this has lead up to but I just read that as marketing speak. I mean SHADOWMAN END TIMES was touted as a "jumping on point" (?!), so I don't see this as a DMG thing. And while 2019 is a ways off, Valiant always seems to do this. HW2 and the new Shadowman have both been marketed and teased for over a year.

Serious Question: Is this the best thing that has happened thus far (globally) in 2018?

Something from Dysart will be out in 2018 I'm pretty sure. It's something I'm trying to get clarified...

This is absolutely fantastic news, buuuuuut...
2019? Seriously? I want to know about the stuff coming out this summer, and maybe even the fall after that. Why are we getting news about early 2019 when nothing's been said about HW2 tie-ins (if there is any).

Re: Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released
Ok so because VEI has held off on production of this Dysart project that’s why we are not going to see it till next year. We will not be getting anything from Dysart from Valiant in 2018 [PENSIVE FACE]

Re: Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released
I know I'm going to love this, but we've been hearing that Dysart will be back for almost 2 years and now the announcement is a mini series in another year. That is disappointing, I can't see why a three year story gap makes sense for marketing, sales, or storytelling, especially when we were already told it will be 2018.
We got almost 50 nearly perfect books from Dysart over 4 years, then it takes 3 years to make 6 issues with the implication that it will be the end of the story. I think we all know there is a lot more story set up than this... at least its not 4 issues.
I'm happy its official but I'd rather get an announcement a few months before release.

The gap makes sense, imo, because DMG are tying up this story with the view to farming it for use as a movie property afterwards.tell wrote:I know I'm going to love this, but we've been hearing that Dysart will be back for almost 2 years and now the announcement is a mini series in another year. Dysart, CAFU and Suayan in a Prestige mini about Harada is worth all the wait until then.

Re: Joshua Dysart's last story of Harada is getting released
I don't know how much of the delay is because of Valiant or because of Dysart. Unless he's already had this written and Valiant has just been sitting on it, I think the delay might be more on Dysart. I've read where as much as he enjoys comics, he has a lot of other projects and interests outside of comics. He seems to be involved in some capacity in a number of human rights campaigns or something similar.

For those looking for something Dysart-esque, check out Joe Casey's run on WildCATS. It's got a similar geo-political feel although a little sillier (for lack of a better term) at times.
